Welcome everyone to "John Pedersen Electric", which is my "electronic" My Space page. Four other John Pedersen pages exist, one to compliment my jazz stuff, the other to focus on solo piano, a more "new age" page to showcase my earlier material, and finally, a page to display my more "progressive" side. I'm a keyboardist-composer living in San Diego, am a full time piano instructor, church organist, piano accompanist and recording artist. I started organ lessons at age 11 and later switched to the piano. But the organ, with its more varied sonic possibilities, helped me appreciate electronic music. Starting with the prog rock groups (ELP, Yes, Genesis), I had an early introduction to the synthesizer. The 80s continued that education as I listened to artists like, Depeche Mode, Heaven 17, Human League, Kraftwerk, etc. As dance music developed, people like Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins and a whole host of "electronica" artists inspired me (please refer to my influences list). Ambient artists like Steve Roach, Jon Jenkins, David Helpling and Jonn Serrie captured my interest as well. Finally, groups like The Shamen, Deep Forest and Orbital really captured my interest enough in 1993, that I started creating electronic dance music. Christian electronic dance artists like, Code of Ethics and Ian Eskelin, also profoundly influenced me. Humble beginnings didn't deter me from creating backing tracks for musicals, using only a couple of cheap Casios and a 4-track recorder. The small stipend I had received, allowed me to purchase a used Roland W-30, an 8 track sequencer-sampler that Liam Howlett of The Prodigy also used at the time. I borrowed a Roland Juno 106 and Ensoniq SQ-1 and put together some tracks in the mid 90s. By 1996, I was able to afford a Korg X-3, and after developing a friendship with Mark Sarno (who had a home studio), I finally released my first CD entitled, "White Owl" (1997). This release featured new age piano stylings, ambient synths and C.S. Lewis type of symbolism. Additionally, there was a strong Native American influence present on this album. Three years later another Native inspired project, "Legend & Landscape" (2000), was made available. Ambient, orchestral and lush synths (as well as live percussion-guitar) made this concept album a must-have for fans of the genre. My three remaining albums, "When Sun Broke Through" (2002), "Paradise" (2006) and "Groovidi (2007), featured uplifting instrumentals that moved into a jazzier direction. Guest musicians like Andy Machin-guitar & bass, Adrienne Nims-flute & sax, and Jeff Winckler on drums, all added a deeper dimension to my tunes. However, due to my interest in electronic music, an ambient influence still pervaded on all of these albums. Some tracks were even created in a "Drum & Bass" setting, while others explored the realms of "Chill-Out-Lounge" and "Downtempo". Hope that you have had a chance to listen to my tunes and comment on them, as feedback and criticism will help me hone my craft. If you enjoy my music, please check out my other My Space pages or visit my website at www.findingparadisejazz.com. Happy listening to all. ~John

Thanks for the add. The Electric stuff is also very nice and you really seem to be a workaholic. But as long as one is hooked to music, it..s a very healthy form of addiction. ;-)
