Guse officially formed in November of 2005 following months of experimental, free-form jamming in a Lawrence, KS basement. After becoming familiar with each others' wide variety of playing styles they began the songwriting process. Their lyrical topics range from sociopolitical commentary to exploration of the mind, sometimes dark, serious and weird, while other times beautiful, humorous and light-hearted.
In January of 2007, shortly after recording a three-song demo with local producer/engineer Chubby Smith, Guse won the Lawrence division of the Waka Winter Classic, a battle of the bands for a performance slot at the Wakarusa Music Festival the following summer. Later that spring the band went on to win an online competition between the winners from each host city and was awarded with a main stage slot at the festival. As a result, Guse began to expand their fanbase beyond their devoted local following. In June of 2008 Guse released their debut album "Pepperoni Big" immediately before going on a nine-date tour of the midwest.

In early fall of 2008 came the departure of keyboard player Steven "Lewis" Phipps who then turned his focus to band management and lighting. Guse then began working on new material. The remaining four members went on to play a few more shows before deciding to abruptly call it quits in April of 2009.

Once again we are offering a chance to win a $500 - 10 hr recording session from Black Lodge Studios in Eudora.
We are exploring some different criteria as we do every year but basically you just gotta rock out and get as many people there as you can to win the Grand Prize.
Battle for Black Lodge begins on Fri June 5th
Dates available Fri 6/5 Sat 6/6 Sat 6/20 Fri 6/26
July Fri 7/10 Sat 7/11 Fri 7/17 Sat 7/18 Fri 7/24 Sat 7/25
and so on for final rounds
The First Round dates will include 1-2 locals, and 1-2 area bands as scheduling is available. Winners move on to second round. I am always flexible on scheduling so let me know of any possible conflicts throughout the summer.
Payout is a split as usual and these shows are some of the best The Trap has to offer. These competitions really give your fans a reason to get out and support you.
Bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch! Sorry for the harsh words coming from such a sweet and sensual lady. This is what I feel like saying to you, Guse, for denying your responsibility (or, at least loyalty) to the people who have gone to every (almost) show since the old Ween nights at Lewis and Clark's. The lack of a last show is horrible behavior. I spent quite a few New Years' and Halloweens' supporting you guys not just because you are some of my closest friends, but because you are a GREAT band full of TALENTED musicians. Frankly, I don't give a fuck if you don't need closure. If we made you a band worth experiencing the stage at Wakarusa or Deadwood Derby finals then we deserve a last show. So quit acting like little bitches and melt my face off one more time!
