***Jon Bodan*** http://www.myspace.com/jonbodan
Jon is one of the two founding members of Halcyon Way, and is responsible for most of the songwriting and production. Both the EP and A Manifesto For Domination were recorded in his studio, Edge Of Forever Productions. He's been playing the guitar for over 15 years and cut his teeth in the popular Atlanta death metal band Final Judgement back in the early 1990s. Jon uses Brian Moore & Ernie Ball guitars, Madison, Marshall, Mesa/Boogie, and Bogner amplification, TC Electronics effects, Sennheiser Wireless, and a Digital Music Corporation MIDI switching system.
***Ernie Topran*** http://www.myspace.com/truemindframe
Ernie is the man with the rhythm - his influences include Virgil Donati, Angra, Evergrey, Symphony X, and Pain Of Salvation. He has played in numerous bands in the New York area but has now settled in the South with the HW guys. He enjoys long walks on the beach and plays Pearl Drums and Zildjian Cymbals.
***Sean Shields*** http://www.myspace.com/seanshields
Sean Shields is the vocalist for Halcyon Way. In early 2004, he replaced the original vocalist for the band. Sean has a sound somewhere between legendary vocalists Ronnie James Dio and Geoff Tate, and his presence has taken the band to an entirely new plane. With years of stage & studio experience, Sean was the perfect vocal fit for taking Halcyon Way to the next level.
***Zane*** http://www.myspace.com/heavymetalmusic
Zane is no stranger to the metal scene - he spent the six years prior to joining Halcyon Way playing bass and singing for the Atlanta goth metal band Abwhore, and after that band dissolved, Zane took on the touring vocalist duties for power metal legends Cauldron Born and appeared at the Powermad & Classic Metal fests. Zane brings not only his guitar abilities to the stage but his vocal abilities as well, singing harmonies alongside Sean Shields & Jon Bodan that are sure to blow away anyone who doubts the force of this progressive metal juggernaut.
Zane is endorsed by Halo Guitars, and uses and abuses the following: Dean guitars, Madison, Marshall, & Mesa/Boogie amplification, Sfarzo guitar strings, and a Sennheiser wireless that Jon lets him use.
***Kris*** http://www.myspace.com/thunder_bass
Kris Maltenieks, the newest member of Halcyon Way comes from a Black Metal background from former Atlanta bands such as "As The Seasons Grey", & "Withered Empire". Kris also stepped in for a brief time in Cernunnos who is now based out of Huntsville Alabama. With his powerful performance and speed Kris brings a new style of bass playing to Halcyon Way that will bring them to a newer level. Kris Maltenieks plays on his Schecter Basses, BridgeCraft Bass, Behringer, Gallien-Kruger, Madison, and Boss Effects.
Influences
Testament, Fates Warning, Dream Theater, In Flames, Queensryche, Soilwork, Deliverance, Galactic Cowboys, Sevendust, Megadeth, Dio, Angra, and many other progressive, thrash, and power metal bands.
Halcyon Way is Atlanta's premier heavy metal band. Known for their explosive live shows, instantly catchy melodies, precise vocal harmonies, incendiary guitar work, intricate yet pounding drums, and live props and showmanship hearkening back to the glory days of arena rock, they dominate the local live scene. Aurally combining the heaviness of bands like Slayer, the technical prowess of Dream Theater, and with vocal melodies reminding you of Ronnie James Dio’s best work, you will be pummeled with the punishing riffs while being lovingly caressed by the unforgettable hooks.
Halcyon Way have received radio play on Atlanta’s FM 99.7, 91.1, 96.1, 1640AM, XM Radio, Sirius Radio, Darktech Radio, Maximum Threshold, Powermaker, Zentient Metalcast, and many other online radio stations. They have also shared the stage with heavyweight acts such as Helloween, Strapping Young Lad, Symphony X, Sanctity, Samael, Cathedral, Brand New Sin, To/Die/For, Virgin Black, Prototype, Echoes Of Eternity, Krucible, Cellador, Freak Kitchen, A Lower Deep, Scum Of The Earth, Bobaflex, Society 1, Odin's Court, Circle II Circle, Enertia, and Magistral. In addition, Halcyon Way were the first Atlanta band to be featured at the legendary Prog Power festival in 2004, having been invited to kick off the festivities at the Prog Power Showcase, and were also a last minute addition to the Prog Power VIII Showcase in 2007.
After releasing a string of EPs – Blind Eyes To The Sky & Deliver The Suffering - the band is currently preparing to release their debut full length album, entitled A Manifesto For Domination. Produced by guitarist Jon Bodan with assistance from James Murphy (formerly of the bands Testament, Death, Obituary, and Disincarnate, and producer of The Hinderers by Roadrunner artists Daath), mixed by Lasse Lammert (Alestorm, Incubator), and mastered by James Murphy, the record is due for release fall of 2008 by an as-yet undisclosed label.
