We are "Hammerspace", a long-form, Los Angeles-based experimental Improv Group. We perform pretty regularly at the iO (Improv Olympic) West in Hollywood, CA. Hammerspace is the creation of Patrick Ian Moore and Juli Crockett. We are directed by improv legend Ed Greeberg (of the Committee). Our favorite Improv group is "King Ten". Currently we perform most often in The Andy Dick Experimental Theatre and the Upstairs Black Box (use the entrance on Cosmo). To contact Hammerspace write us here on MySpace, send a Yahoo IM to hammerspaceimprov, or call (626)614-9422.
In addition to Patrick Ian Moore and Juli Crockett (The Evangenitals) Hammerspace also features: Shaughn Buccholz (Scrubs) Robin Reiser (Last Comic Standing)
Kelly Chase
Brittany Wilkerson
TJ Gooding
and Eliana Horeczko.
Hammerspace is coached and directed by Ed Greenberg (The Committee, Laughter for a Change).

Modern improvisational theatre and comedy falls generally into two categories: shortform and longform.
Short-form improv consists of short scenes usually constructed from a predetermined game, structure, or idea and driven by an audience suggestion. Most short-form games we know today were first created by Viola Spolin. Viola Spolin can probably be considered the American Grandmother of Improv. She influenced the first generation of Improv at The Compass Players in Chicago, which led to The Second City. Her son Paul Sills, along with David Shepherd, started The Compass Players and Second City.
Long-form improv performers create shows in which scenes are often interrelated by story, characters, or themes.

About me: Hammerspace- the physical dimension that characters reach into to pull out very large mallets or other objects.
Harold (improvisation):
Harold is a form of improvised long-form theatrical comedy. The Harold was developed by Del Close. The Harold has become the signature form of iO (Improv Olympic) in both Los Angeles and Chicago. The Harold is also taught and performed at The Upright Citizen’s Brigade in New York and Los Angeles, and Second City in both LA, Chicago, and Canada.
The Harold is now performed by improvisational theatre troupes and teams across the world. A typical Harold is 25 to 40 minutes.
Del Close's book, Truth in Comedy is the definitive text on the Harold.
FREAK DANCE: THE FORBIDDEN DIRTY BOOGALOO "When pop comes to lock, when you’re breakin’ on the make, sometimes you got to take a chance and dance." Freak Dance: The Forbidden Dirty Boogaloo, is a new musical theater extravaganza, I wrote and I am in. Freak Dance is a straight up, in your face, activated story of how dancers from different worlds come together to save Fantaseez Dance Center, the soul of the streets where dancing is the dream of every street kid, combating the city building inspector, the rival studio, and the Forbidden Dirty Boogaloo.
