Fundraising for the cure of type 1 diabetes is my main interest. Trying to incorporate crafting along the way. Luckily for me, I belong to a tremendously generous community of crafters who have contributed to this cause. My heart is full because of you. Thank you so much.Music

About me:
Hi, I'm Melody, the mother of a type 1 diabetic teenaged boy. I can't wait for a cure, so I'm trying to help raise funds to expedite research, trials and studies for the cure. I opened the Sugarcube Society in 2007 with the help of artists and crafters from all over the world. Their donations brought in over $1,000 dollars in the past two years. Side Show Studios Custom Tattoo and Fine Art Gallery is now accepting submissions for its April Second Saturday art show.
Taking Textiles Not So Seriously
This annual show highlights textile and fiber arts and crafts. But be warned - this ain't your granny's quilt show! We're looking for crocheted plushies, creative beadworks, costume and clothing designers, felted creations, handmade paper arts, knitted monsters, hand-tailored dolls, offbeat art quilts and wall hangings, sewn crafts, and any other artwork that uses textiles or fibers as a medium. We're also looking for inspirational people who want to do demonstrations of their unique techniques.
To be considered for this art show, please complete the following information and submit to sideshowstudios@yahoo.com.
* Your name, email, and phone
* Number of art pieces, including dimensions
* A photo of each piece
* A brief bio
Accepted submissions received by February 23 will be considered for promotional materials. There is no application fee to submit your artwork. Original artwork only will be accepted. The gallery commission is 20% for sold artwork. All artists will be notified via email if their art is accepted or not. Further details for art drop off dates for show hanging will be sent to accepted artists.
The Taking Textiles Not So Seriously art show opening reception will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 from 6-10pm at Side Show Studios located at 5635 Freeport Boulevard in Sacramento. The art will be on display during regular business hours through May 2.
