Influences
Personally I've been influenced by a number of bands and persons, but let's say that the early German thrash scene made a huge impact on me back in the mid 80's. Destruction, Kreator and the likes made me want to play extreme music.
Slayer's "Reign In Blood" and Dark Angel's "Darkness Descends" made me think in different ways and these 2 albums were complete openers to a new way of playing extreme metal!
Thru the years these bands and acts have inspired me a lot: Fates Warning, Queensryche, Artillery, Meshuggah, King's X etc.
And some non-metal that has had a great impact on me musically: Stina Nordenstam, Jellyfish, Elvis Costello, ELO - Jeff Lynne, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley.
As a producer these people have changed my way of hearing things: Brendan O'Brien, Jeff Lynne, Bob Rock, Daniel Bergstrand
HIStory:
Jacob Hansen has been a freelance engineer/producer since 1990. Some of the first recordings were made on 4-track cassette machines!
The recordings were getting more and more serious and Jacob produced most of the local metal bands' repertoire on better rented equipment. And things started to expand. The rumor about this guy in Esbjerg spread, and soon bands would be either traveling or getting Jacob to twiddle the knobs at other studios.
He's been working in numerous studios a.o.: Borsing Recording, El-Sound, Take One, Los Angered, Lundgaard, AMP etc.
The musical background of Jacob Hansen goes back to 1985, where he at an age of 15, started to jam with a friend. This was later to become the heavy metal band Invocator. A band which was active until 1995. The band was recently, after 7 years of absence from "the scene", re-started with new members. Other bands where Jacob Hansen is active as a musician is the prog/power metal bands Beyond Twilight (as a guitarist), and Anubis Gate (as a vocalist).
Jacob's own recording studio - Hansen Studios - has now become a well-known metal/rock recording mekka, which has done albums for prominent acts such as Rob Rock, Destruction, Hatesphere, Fear My Thoughts, Heaven Shall Burn, Without Grief, Ancient, Nightrage, Neaera, Illdisposed, Volbeat, Mercenary, Beyond Twilight, Maroon, Communic etc. etc.
The studio is located in Ribe, Denmark and takes the best of both analogue world with old 60's and 70's broadcast equipment, and the latest in harddisc computer recording, ProTools. This blend makes a unique sound that fits todays demanding metal and rock scene.
