What started on a rainy February afternoon in the year 1989 quickly became an all-boys dream. Harrie Harrie and Harrie Lee went into a dirty basement in the city of Arnhem to lay down the foundations for The Harries trademark: Speed-up punkrock with a huge smile. Lots of shows were played and after releasing several 7-inches the band recorded in 1991 her first cd; "Dedicated to Werner".
After going through numerous line-up changes - especially drummers couldnt keep up with The Harries energy level- our two boys met in a German squat their perfect soulmate for their upcoming crusade through Europe. They took the drummer from Giesseners punkrock outfit The Arnolds into the practise-room for two weeks. Having taught him the principals of being a Harrie and baptised him into Harrie Badmuts (forget about the translations, it's too silly), they stepped in the van to go for a 10 countries in 8 weeks tour through Europe in 1994 to promote their new cd "The Thing That Sticks With You" released on the notorious German punkrock label Nasty Vinyl. Several tours followed along with many releases.
In the year of 1996 the dream came to an end. Rock'nRoll buried it's next victims. The Harries tried to live normal lives. A job, marriage and mortgage, you know normal live. Well normal?
Harrie Harrie and Harrie Lee found out that it is impossible to live a normal live without punkrock. So after some false attempts, being graduated from college (finally) they decided in 2005 that nothing else but punkrock matters any more. So they picked up their instrument, recruited new members and played non-stop punkrock for three days in a row, only having a break for the necessary amount of beer and pizza. The result is a mix of old Harrie-style punkrock with modern influences. High-energy punkrock with great hooks and catchy sing-a-longs. Bringing back the memory of bands like the Ramones (the energy), Buzzcocks (the melody), Toy Dolls (the humour) played with the sound of today. The band marks this new era in their history with a new name. Harries '89. New? Not quite. The number 89 refers the year it all happened, yes, the boys our going back to their roots. With the addition of Harrie Ring (drums) and Harrie King (guitar) the band is ready to do it all. Unfortunatly Harrie King had to decide to stop with the band. His studie sucked out his brains and he had to fiend back the gray substance that left him. But a new Harrieguitarist is arriving! His name will be: Harrie Eagle
This young guy will join Harries89 from december 2007! Harrie King will play his last gig at december 14 2007 at a punkrockfestival in hometown Arnhem.
In the mean time Harries89 have changed drummers as well! Harrie Ring couldn't bring up the energie anymore and after a good conversation, and no hard feelings, Harrie Ring left the band. Then drumhero, >Egbert Joosten> from the band Lovebite came knocking at their frontdoor, conquered his place and within a week Harrie "the monster" Joosten was born!
So Harries89 allways survive and coninue making funny noise!
Well after all this, do I still need to convince you to check them out every time they play in a venue near your town? I dont think so.
And remember that when you see them, it's.....................
Bedankt Harrie!
