The Harringtons are a Northern Casual Indie Rock & Roll Band starting out from Barnsley who formed at the beginning of February 2008. We've been gigging in and around Yorkshire now for about 12 months flat and have gatherd alot of fans and interest along the way. Keep an eye out to see what happens next. Thanks for taking your time in checking us out, it means a lot.
The Harringtons.
Third up were The Harringtons from Barnsley. Their large, existing fan base accompanied the band with pride to express their support. Emphasising their appreciation, the band began their slot by thanking the headline act for asking them to play, before playing a full set of hits, including ‘City Nights’ and ‘Queen of Hearts’. ‘Set In Our Ways’ was also part of the agenda, complimented by ample visual stimulation from the vigorously flashing lights. To the fans disappointment, this marked the end of a cracking set. In all honesty, I think it’s a tragedy that these guys aren’t yet signed. (By Mitch Hanson - The Soundclash Club.)
Northern indie-rock-n-roll at its best! This bunch of swaggering personalities are sure to set stages alight, so just remember where you saw them first.
(O2 Academy 2 Sheffield)
The Harringtons are strictly speaking from Barnsley, but their talent and
following is such that it could not be
confined. Naturally they are invading Sheffield and are taking a lot of us
Sheffielders along with them. It is verging on
criminal that they are at the time of going to press, unsigned. Catch them
while they are Barnsley's best kept secret! (The Plug Sheffield)
A lot of bands like boasting ironically about how they've written classics, evergreen chart hits that those of us with any teeth left will keep whistling gleefully into the 2050s and beyond. Along come The Harringtons, without as much as a thread of post-Britpop irony, and with an actual classic for our listening enjoyment. 'Set In Our Ways' is a clamourous, anthemic, Welleresque state of the nation statement that ought to bring the Yorkshire quartet properly to the attention of those cynical big city knowitalls who always ignore stuff like this. Perhaps this isn't the song that'll exactly do that for The Harringtons, but no-one who hears it will actually care. It is. They are.

The Harringtons entered the stage to an ecstatic welcome from the now full auditorium. They thanked the Century Kids for letting them support, then their energy soon kicked in with their determined attitude. The best track of the whole evening was the dancey 'All These Things That Lovers do' – which for a moment reminded me of Little Man Tate, but then turned into their own Harringtons style tune with trademark ringing guitars and confident vocals. Their set continued to impress the crowd, so much so the front of the stage became a 'moshing mess' of bodies, which became more frenzied when 'City Nights' was played. Unfortunately their set seemed to be prematurely cut short, much to the annoyance of the fans who chanted “more, more” hoping that would entice them to play longer...
(Soundclash Review - The Plug 25.04.2009)
The Harringtons look set to ruffle some feathers and it’s only their third gig. The turnout was one of the best I have witness for a local band and let’s only hope this fan base remains loyal – if The Harringtons keep spilling out the tunes as they are, it can only be good times ahead.. -

Headlining the event are local lads The Harringtons, who have been causing a stir, packing out local venues with their first string of gigs. - (Darton M-fest) Headliners, ‘The Harringtons’ created a frenzied finish, and the crowd were just soaking everything up. These local guys have delivered the goods time and time again. Admiration for the organisers, who had the balls to put their faith in a local band to headline this year’s event!
(Barnsley Soundbytes regarding M - Fest.)
The tracks all follow an energetic pace leaving no room for sentiment. The lyrics are direct and delivered clearly by a competent frontman. All and sundry know the role they have and fulfil it effectively if not professionally. 'City Nights' is an obvious favourite amongst fans. It's a strong catchy song that ironically captures the typical nightlife experience of young adults all over the UK. The Harringtons aren't a band for whining about the woes of shitty relationships and hard times, instead they turn it on its head to basically outline shit happens, time to move on and lets make a joke of it. It's exciting times for this band and if you haven't checked The Harringtons out, we suggest you do!
(Barnsley Soundbytes Review.)
In the space of a couple of months The Harringtons had gone from putting an ad out on 'Myspace' for musicians to headlining a local music event in Barnsley. But, love 'em or hate 'em, this is The Harringtons' velocity of life fuelled by energy and charisma.
Its obvious that The Harringtons are Yorkshire boys at heart and know there's a lot of hard work ahead of them, the casual indie rock and roll style mixed with a passion for having a f*cking good time makes them all the more appealing.
(Donna Bonds - Sandman Magazine)
Barnsley four piece, The Harringtons, release 'Set In Our Ways', a song that showcases their potential of being one of the up and coming bands that deserved to be noticed. Not that this will be a surprise to any of their army of fans from South Yorkshire and beyond. 'Set In Our Ways' is a five minute introduction of the bands indie rock style, that goes beyond what their age suggests they should be producing. The one minute intro setting the scene perfectly with all guitars blazing and when the vocals kick in we are treated to an anguished song which actually does have real meaning to the lyrics.
Currently The Harringtons have only one gig scheduled outside of Yorkshire, in the capital. Expect to see a lot more of them in the very near future. (Review on "Set in Our Ways" by - www.roomthirteen.com)
The Harringtons are from Barnsley and are apparently getting a bit of a buzz about them, this is northen indie rock and roll along the lines of The Arctics, Kaiser Chiefs and Pigeon Detectives. It’s a shame that there going to be referred to as ‘the next this’ or ‘the next that’ because this tune is a pounding, tight, dark anthem that’s sure to win them fans from a bit further down the M1 and is better than anything the Pigeon Detectives for one, could of even dreamt of coming up with. The Harringtons blow you away with their big guitars, big sound and their single, " Set in Our Ways " - which is epic in all proportions. These Yorkshire boys set a standard that is hard to find a comparison. Like a nail being driven into your head they'll find a hole to climb into your psyche.. (Review by - Andrew Morris - Plugged in Magazine)
Looking forward to hearing the rest of this. Reminds me of a bit of a cross between Wire Train and the Stone Roses. Great Manchester sound with a bit of 80s US Indie Rock. Definitely worth the $.99!.. (Customer review on our Single "Set in Our Ways")
With "Set In Our Ways" The Harringtons deliver a powerful and energetic composition that brings just enough of a guitar edge to your speakers to keep you happy without pushing you over that edge. And speaking of Edge, yes...the comparisons to U2 will inevitably come. And critics will lament that this style of music has been played; played again; and then played out -- but critics can say that about nearly every genre of music.
So, if you like U2, Cure, Midnight Oil, or The Psychedelic Furs then you'll love this fresh musical thrust from The Harringtons. "Set In Our Ways" is most definitely worth the price of the single and it will not disappoint. --PB (Customer review on our Single "Set in Our Ways")
