About Harrys Gym

Harrys Gym's music could be described as an eerie blend of psychedelic pop smeered in atmosphere and blissed out melodies.

The Clash Magazine found Harrys Gym as one of the festival highlights at the By:Larm Festival 2009:
"Harrys Gym have a presence and sound that could easily leap the fjords to international note. With a haunted female singer alongside three comrades layering an intricate rhythmic landscape, it’s hard to comprehend their name; yet running their entire sound through the stupidly talented drummer works well, as deep and filthy programming snugly slots into their driving percussion. The singer’s acerbic vocals are angled somewhere between Garbage and The Knife and cut through the evening’s more moderate successes like the icy wind outside the venue. Massive promise."

NME ranked Harrys Gym as one of the top five acts at the by:larm festival (Scandanavias largest music industry conference) in 2008, while Drowned In Sound described the band as ‘a bruising, sonic squall of an affair’ and that ‘dramatic dark pop is the order of the day, equal parts delicate and muscular.

Said about the album:
The self-titled album is an amazingly strong debut. Shining with solid song writing skills, the album has enough pop sensibility to glide silk-like through your ears, but without any cheap hooks. In stead it finds the way to your heart with great melodies, skilful arrangements and production, emotional lyrics and beautiful singing. (...)Wrapped up in a dreamlike sweet sadness, it creates its own narrative in the mind of the listener. It may be a blurred childhood memory, the story of something lost, or just the feeling of a rainy day. But even for the imaginatively impaired, it’s impossible not to be touched by the sheer enthralling beauty of these songs. It’s the kind of album you could quite possibly stay in love with forever.
