Midlands based Headless Cross started life nearly 4 years ago when guitarist Dave Silver broke free from
previous band commitments to start his own band. The band set about writing material and playing gigs.
After nearly a year and a half the band finally found the right line-up and direction, and began gigging
heavily all over the country.
On the circulation of the bands first proper demo "Crown Of Thorns", the band were overwhelmed by the
unanimously positive response, being compared to Judas Priest, Metallica, Atrophy, Gammacide and a whole
host of great metal bands from the 80's heydays.
In July 2005 the band started work on their up-coming E.P. entitled "Burning Sanctuary", with producer
engineer Mark Stuart (Marshall Law, Xentrix, Magnum). Intended to showcase the diversity of the bands
sound, going from fast and aggressive one minute, to quite and reflective the next.
The band have been gigging solidly playing on average 4 gigs a week since September 2005 and plan on
continuing this intensity adding to the already large following they have gained nationwide. The band
were lucky enough to take part in the first ever Dominion festival next to bands such as Skyclad, Human
fortress, Deliverance and Conquest of Steel.
2006 was a hard year for the band having line-up turmoil that was never properly resolved. Although a particular highlight was when Headless Cross took to the stage at the Bloodstock Open Air
Festival, alongside such greats as Metal Church, Stratovarious, Athiest and Edguy.
2007 saw band leader and sole songwriter Dave Silver leave the band to concentrate on new project SAVAGE MESSIAH. Headless Cross is subsequently no more.
Cheers to everyone that came down to BarMonsta to see us play there for the last time. It was a rocking night and a good way to end our residency there.
ROCKWORKZ will be back soon at our new venue, the Purple Turtle, Crowndale Rd, Camden, just next to Mornington Crescent tube station.
We'll be there every Sunday afternoon from July 8th, (time to be confirmed, but probably from 2pm till 6), featuring Men & Gods singer Marc Eden, who Slash called "one of the greatest Rock n' Roll singers I have ever heard", and Henry Rundell from Voodoo Six, who's been described as "the best voice to come out of the British music scene in the last 10 years", plus various members of Voodoo Six, Men & Gods, Crowning Glory, Cavalar, Zodiac Mindwarp and guests...
Playing Classic Rock from Audioslave and Alice in Chains to Zeppelin, via Purple, Sabbath, AC/DC, etc etc...
