Rising from the landlocked Black Country of England in the early 80's, Head Of David were a genetically modified product, bleeding clogged metallic arteries into the densest industrial smog. After an indulgent ten minute set at the Courthouse in Dudley one typically rainy evening in front of the newly formed Blast First records, Head Of David signed on the smudged dotted line, becoming the sole label mates of the emerging Sonic Youth. A couple of months later the first mini album - 'Dogbreath' - was recorded at Radio Trent, Nottingham. The first HOD Peel session was added to 'Dogbreath' to make 'LP'. This was followed by the albums, 'Dustbowl' and 'Seed State', featuring varying line ups. Always a reluctant live band, HOD split in 1991, playing their final gig at the Axiom in Houston, Texas, vowing never to walk onstage ever again. But what is a vow worth.

I have to repeat what I told Dave and Sharp after your performance last Sunday: sooo good you're back, I've seen many reunions fail, glad that yours worked so well - or. as my pal Raph said: "still relevant"!
