We owe our sound to the music we love and the music we hate. Although great music can influence a band’s style, creativity can just as easily come out in frustration with top 40 radio and the rush of bands that scramble to be like the latest sound. Music - Let it have a message, let it bring life to the lifeless, let it be fun and let it be heard.
The incomparable Hello Beautiful originally formed in 2004, when vocalist/guitarist Cole Martin and guitarist Buddy Taylor, who met at the same high school in Whitby, Ontario decided to form a band. Honing their captivating songwriting and attracting drummer Kevin Walsh, as well as bassist Dan Bradimore, they recorded a few independent recordings. The songs from those recordings managed to reach the attention of a few local labels, and even more so when they started winning every single battle of the bands competition that they entered. There was interest, but no instant gratification. After paying many dues in indie punk/hip hop obscurity, many repeated cycles through the east-end club circuit, and two replacements; Charlie Royal (a talented local M.C.) and Darrel Wallace (a blindingly refined guitarist), Hello Beautiful have played their way onto the broad landscape of Canadian music. Armed with a ferocious live show that always whips audiences into a frenzy; as is well explained by Toronto's Exclaim Magazine, who reported after seeing them in concert; "Their set caused a dance floor eruption and a constant interchange between the crowd and band made for an endearing set. HB got enough love from the crowd to play an encore and left the stage while the crowed raged" - (Recently Reviewed, Exclaim Magazine, Nov. 2008), HB is a force to be reckoned with. After their CD release party/concert was held at Toronto's legendary live venue, The Horseshoe Tavern, Jeff Cohen (co-owner) said "The last time I saw someone play like that on this stage, it was Billy Talent, and that was like four years ago!".
An unprecedented fusion of Punk, Rock, Hip-Hop and occasional Latin flavor.. Unforgettable melodies and clever lyrics.. Multifaceted guitar hooks and savage solos.. All of these elements prove that Hello Beautiful has deconstructed today's "in the box" industry thinking, and they are in full view on the full-length debut, Soundtrack For Scenario. Recorded and co-produced by Canadian music industry stalwart Murray Daigle, Soundtrack For Scenario has been receiving great praise and gaining promising momentum. ChartAttack.com's review revealed that "...Sheer noise can result from fusing Hip Hop, Rock and Punk instead of a euphonic harmony" however, "Hello Beautiful have managed to successfully mix the three types of music into one". Coyly crafted, introspective views are fully displayed on the first single, 'Virginia Symphony', as it tells the story from different perspectives on the Virginia Tech University shooting. On the second single, 'Saint Andrew's Bridge', child abuse is the topic, but encourages brighter days after over-coming such tremendous adversity and pain. While there is deep thought put into every song, not all of them deal with harsh realities, songs like 'Asphalt Ambulance', 'Broken Picture Frames' and 'Boom Box Generation' simply talk about girls, everyday flash and a normal lust for some glamour. With other songs like 'Words', 'Say Hey' and 'Toxic in the City' also being part of such a diverse catalog of quality music, it is easy to see why and how Hello Beautiful has shared the stage with such acts as Hedley, iLL Scarlett, Alexisonfire, Thornley, Faber Drive, Swollen Members, Shad, and Econoline Crush, just to name a few.
Hello Beautiful has already proven they have what it takes to win over fans with their distinctive, one of a kind sound, and a 'blow-em-all-away' live show. This quintet is more than ready to take on the world with their gritty work ethic, a solid dedication to good musicianship and a never-say-die attitude. The future promises to be a long and wonderful journey.
As Thanksgiving Day rolls around, It brings up some facts, quite profound. We may think that we're poor, Feel like bums, insecure, But in truth, our riches astound.
We have friends and family we love; We have guidance from heaven above. We have so much more Than they sell in a store, We're wealthy, when push comes to shove.
So add up your blessings, I say; Make Thanksgiving last more than a day. Enjoy what you've got; Realize it's a lot, And you'll make all your cares go away.
