If you put a million chimpanzees in a room with a million musical instruments and a few hundred jars of fruit preserves, they would either play the most amazing music you have ever heard, or kill each other fighting over the preserves.
We are those monkeys. And so, it is fitting that Helmet Head is widely considered to be the first and only "preserves band" in the United States. A preserves band is similar to a jam band, but with fruitier chunks.
Jam bands just jam, jam, jam.
A preserves band like Helmet Head gives you the jam, but then hits you with the jamma jam. And then a jimmity jam. From there, it goes jamtastic: jamarama, toejam football, Jamalot, jammnasium, jam-bam-thank-you-ma'am, Jammy Davis Junior, i do not like green eggs and jam, jam of the free home of the brave ... And just when you've been jammed out, you get a jellyroll ending. There's no disputing it: With a name like Helmet Head, it has to be good.
