Learn, Artist	Mar 24 2008 8:21 AM Learn, Artist! will be appearing Friday, March 28, at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum (Skinker and Forsyth) on the campus of Washington University in Saint Louis. The performance will begin at 6:00 p.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m. Free snacks and free Pabst Blue Ribbon beer will be provided. Come listen to Learn, Artist! and visit the two great exhibitions now on display: THADDEUS STRODE: ABSOLUTES AND NOTHINGS presents a selection of large-scale paintings by this LA-based artist as part of the Kemper Art Museum's Contemporary Projects series. Strode's first major museum show, the exhibition will include two dozen mixed-media paintings--wild mash-ups of California surf and skateboard culture, Zen philosophy, rock music, literature, film, and comic books. ON THE MARGINS aims in part at underscoring the contrast between the realities of disaster and how they are presented--what we see and what we don't see--through the lens of today's media. All of the works in the show were created in the last seven years. Collectively they investigate a range of aesthetic strategies that depict the ways in which war and conflict around the world impact--or fail to impact -- our everyday life. Featured Artists Adel Abidin, Laylah Ali, Paolo Canevari, Enrique Chagoya, Willie Cole, Luis Cruz Azaceta, Willie Doherty, Jane Hammond, Martha Rosler, Do-Ho Suh.
