CHARTERED IN 1968, Hickory Tree Chorus is a champion chapter of Sweet Adelines International, singing four-part a cappella harmony in barbershop style. Our more than 60 members hail from over 40 communities and various backgrounds and share a love of singing and performing popular music, tender ballads, and novelty tunes. We compete annually and perform an annual show and at community, corporate and private events.
REHEARSALS
We rehearse at the NJ Youth Symphony Music Center, 570 Central Avenue, New Providence, New Jersey, Wednesdays at 7:30 pm. E-mail members@hickorytreechorus.org before you visit to confirm rehearsal schedule and location as we are occasionally on the move! Our director, Carolyn Schmidt, is a 25-plus year veteran of barbershopping and both a Master Director and Certified Music Arranger in Sweet Adelines.
How to JOIN!
We welcome women of all ages who love to sing, learn and perform! Visit a regular rehearsal. Begin the audition process with a learning tape or CD and sheet music for take-home practice. It is NOT required that you know how to read music! Your success is our success and we are there to help you!
