Hailing from the desert land of Arizona – Hogjaw is bringing in the southern rock from the SOUTHwest. Like a Freight-train of sound; Jonboat Jones (vox/guitar), Craig Self (lead guitar), Elvis DD (Bass) & J. "killer" Kowalski (drums) deliver a dose of genuine rocking goodness.
Hogjaw was formed in ’06 through the power of jamming…” when we realized what we had, it just snowballed.” Everyone in the band are standing friends from High School and with one common goal (rockin) it became easy for the music to develop. With many years of playing in major/indie label bands, touring afar, and playing beat-up acoustic guitars in and around the hills, these guys find their talents on a way of their own. It is spoken through the songs~
How the sound’s of Hogjaw was grown by its members; ; Jonboat Jones grew up all over the "dirty south" from the swampy woods of South Georgia, the gravel pits of west Tennessee, to the deserts of Arizona. Being raised on dry rub BBQ, bream on the cainpole and Skynyrd band on the radio has given him the spirit of legends to follow. While Craig, continues to hone his skills in chicken pickin when he isn’t ripping out leads for the band. He also spends time angling his fishin-rod when ever possible. As for Kowalski, he's known for being a solid player and has dedicated his time over the years traveling the corners of this country playing many sweaty clubs and being a session drummer for studio’s all over. Along side of him, Elvis D, the elusive bass player, spends a good portion of time along side kwal traveling the same journey’s, keeping a quiet profile when not laying down the low-end for the band. Together, all bring a diverse background of musical style to the project, determined to make a mark for themselves in the vast world of music.
What’s current on the plate for Hogjaw?
Here we are at the end of 2008… We have played a wash tub load of shows throughout the Arizona state and are looking outward while promoting our first record "Devil in the Details". We are busy collecting footage for a DVD release, which will cronicle the production of our music as well as take people on a ride through our dirty and dusty world. We are also writing brand new material for record number 2 and are officially back in the Villain studio again recording it all. Be sure to check back once in a while, you never know what songs will be up! We have our work cut out for us in the coming new year...2009 promises to be a creative year, and we hope youll share it with us! See ya on the road and off-road
Cheers & humbly yours

WHAT SOME OF THE CRITICS HAVE SAID
1. Hogjaw is the Southern Rock band of the first decade of the Millennium.
Paul Chamberlain @ ARFM- Radio station in England, UK
my problem is deciding what songs to play first coz all are so damn good! It’s been well worth the wait. Hand on heart, Hogjaw is THE Southern Rock band of the first decade of the Millennium. Back to basics, no frills the like of which we haven't seen since the early days of Blackfoot & Doc Holliday. Hell yeah!
2. Playing the dirty Southern rock of Lynyrd Skynyrd!!!
Niki D’Andrea - music editor @ Phoenix New Times ( live music review)
”All three of us marveled at how much Hogjaw reminded us of the dirty Southern rock of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and I was impressed with the band’s musicality. The guitar riffs were gritty, the solos were solid, and the drummer used lots of cowbell. Fans of monster rock like ZZ Top, Nashville Pussy, and Mountain would do well to check out Hogjaw.”
3. The CD rocks from Begginning to end!!!
Michael Buffalo Smith @ gritz Magazine & Swampland.com
Hogjaw is back and they are dishing up their heavy Southern Rock with an oversized ladle. The cover art on the CD rocks, which really sets the stage for the music, which is like a cross between Lynyrd Skynyrd and Metallica. If you like you’re Southern Rock hard and heavy, Hogjaw is your band. More Blackfoot than MTB, more Hatchet than Cowboy. Check ‘em out.
4. This music brings the balls back to Southern Country Rock!
