Between 2002 and 2006, Homo A Go Go donated over $11,000 of festival proceeds to the Olympia organization, the Gender Variant Healthcare Project (GVHP). Festival organizers are working to identify this year's beneficiaries.
Homo a Go Go founder and executive director, Ed Varga, is a longtime community activist. He has been active and influential as a musician and producer in the music movement known as Queercore, for over 15 years. Mr. Varga, who is also a female-to-male transsexual, has been an outspoken activist and writer in the trans community. After being at the helm of three successful installments of the Homo a Go Go festival in Olympia, Varga and fellow organizers decided that moving to San Francisco was best for the organization's growth and longevity.
