Well my name is Melissa, I was born on May 15, 1986, born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado. It's a really small, boring town!! But I suppose it's not too bad. My parents have been divorced since I was 16, I live with my mom whom I love! I have no relationship with my dad. I also have an older brother named Willis AKA Willie who's 26 and I love him to death even though sometimes he can be stupid LOL.
My mother was a christian all her life, she had a tough childhood and she leaned on God for support since before she can remember. She always raised me in church, but when I was 13 I chose him for myself. But when I was around 16 I backslide, stopped going to church gradually and eventually forgot about God, or almost did. I started drinking, doing drugs, shoplifting, everything you can think of. When I was raped when I was 17, I became very angry with God for "deserting me" and 6 months later, on May 10, 2004 five days before my 18th birthday, I slit my wrists and was put in the psyc ward at the hospital. A month after that I developed a severe drinking and partying problem and of course, did more drugs and everything I shouldn't have. I will never forget that time of my life, I was so seperated from God. I felt so empty, lost, alone, angry, and ashamed.
One day, it just hit me like a ton of bricks, I need to change! The only time during that point I felt close to God, is when I watched the gaither homecoming videos. They brought me through. I began feeling it in my heart God had a special plan for me, something that would help and minister to people in need.
Last August, once I figured out how to transfer videos to the computer, I decided to post a few of my favorite gaither clips. I did not expect a reaction, but I got a big one! I kept getting requests and comments so I kept posting and that leads us up to now, over 800 video clips posted, over 2000 subscribers, and over 8 million video views!! God will work where he's wanted, he will not push, he will not shove, but when you let him work in you and through you, he will surely do a great deal that is beyond your imagination!!
Who I'd like to meet: everyone! but especially all the gaithers. I would love to meet people like Mark Lowry, David Phelps, The Gaither Vocal Band, Bill and Gloria Gaither, Chonda Pierce, Aaron Wilburn and all of them and just give them a big hug!!
You and me both. I'm hoping to organize something to go see Mike during one of his solo shows, but again money's tight and I'm STILL unemployed :( But yeah I'd LOVE to follow them everyday! Perhaps one day, Lord willing, we will be following them around as a part of the organization :D
