my core bandmates are long-time pal gary paredes (lead guitar), doug osburn (bass), and pat tomek (drums and alter ego). mike ireland helps me a lot on bass, singing, and arranging. chad rex helps me a lot on rhythm guitar, singing, and world view. a LOT of other k.c. musicians have lent their hand from time to time. pat does all my recording and provides all know-how.

god and country. just kidding---actually buddy holly and bob dylan. just kidding---actually the connells, velvet crush, and wreckless eric.
i'm a songwriter in Kansas City on a non-stop recording project with the help of a bunch of my music pals. i plan to go out writing and recording, and I'll be changing the songs on this site all the time, hopefully as a continuing source of irritation to my detractors.
i am no longer making cd's for public consumption, if i ever did. so if you like this music and want a free cd, send me your address. lemme know if you want any particular song included. no two cd's alike.
if you play and are around these parts and feel compelled to be included in this project, like a moth drawn to the flame, shoot me a message and we'll work up a song sometime.

just saw the Wilders last night in Portland, got there just in time to hear them do your song "Play Me a Slow One". They said your name a bunch of times and how it was authentic Kansas City music. and everyone danced and stuff...I thought that was something to share with you.
Hey Howard: I love that "Rex" guy that assists you on your single..."Kathleen". And...my head swells when I think and hear of his talents. You and he should do a show together sometime. I really like your music, as well.
Hi Howard, just wanted to tell u of a new song we have up called "Ghostmaker" - we'd really appreciate any feedback if u get the chance - thanks so much, all the best OB x

Hey HI! Wow it's so great to hear some of your old stuff. Do you have your cassette songs digital now? Sink Slowly... is one of my most favorite recordings! Love from up north, pj
Howard, Nice set tonight at Blayney's! You and Chad really compliment one another. It was great to hear you, it has been a while. Hope you get to feeling better soon. Take care and I will be in touch. rkj
Hey Howard, I met Pat Tomek in New Mexico last year and he shared some of your songs with me. You are an amazing talent! Many thanks for your friendship. Love & Respect, j.d.
Many thanks for the cd. Every song was like a key to my soul, like a million flowers blossoming into colorful ribbons that overflowed my heart. Cheers, Sara
Hey Howard! We listened to that CD (finally, finally) on this last trip. We're inspired and earmarked several songs... I think Ike'll start playing around to see what works out.
It all sounded great... some songs I'd heard before, and some great new/unearthed stuff, too.
