My life has been one that I wouldn’t have changed for anything. I was raised in a very small town in Chesapeake Ohio on a area known as “Slop Hollow”. It had been a hog farm at one time and my father who worked hard his whole life had his hands full raising a family and thank God for my wonderful Mom. Ther were three of us kids but I was the middle and unfortunately sicly one with asthma and almost died a few times. I stayed in and occupied my time with a guitar my father paid very little for but my infatuation grew. Eight hours of practice per day and at the age of 10 I received my first standing ovation and $25. I knew then that it would take much more dedication to make a real mark in life and hopefully see the world. It wasn’t long until I was getting calls to perform outside the home area and I remember they would lock the front door of a night club over in Huntington W.VA. when they sneaked me in the back door just to sing with my guitar and I was very under age. It would take for ever to tell the story but there were two entertainers in this club performing and our drummers were brothers. He would play for two weeks then go on the road then I would do the same. His name is “Billy Ray Cyrus” and I’m proud of him. I received a call to come to Nashville by one of the biggest entertainment groups there and I hit the road also full time. Worked with over 100 major Nashville Artists as opening act then graduated as headlining act and performing at state fairs and everywhere else there was a stage in those millions of miles traveled days. I ended up having my own show in Las Vegas for a long time then one day I came home to my wife Kim and my three great kids. I took a long break to examine myself and then I was convened by another Brother Mason to recode my own songs about things that truly meant something to me that I had written over the years. One of them is my love for Freemasonry and my love for the outdoors. Today I appear on many hunting and fishing shows on National TV and my new album is being received by Brothers all over the world on my web site and all just word of mouth and by the performances of the “Masonic Pride Tour”. I do love life and all it has to offer and I love sharing it and motivating others about it as well.
Congrateulations Brother on receiving Your Legion of Honor from Ohio DeMolay. I thanked you in the lobby for your music and I thank you once more; Brother.
It is a common misconseption for most Masons that George Washington Was the first Grand Master of Masons in the new world. This fact is simply untrue. Yes, he was asked, two times to be exact but on both times denied as he did not feel worthy of such an office. Yes George Washington Was a Master Mason in fact he was rased to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason in 1753 in Alexander Lodge#22. Thirty six years later Brother Washington was elected as master of Alexandera#22 in 1789, the same year he was Elected as the first President of the united States. Here is a condensed verson of Brother Washingtons Life. 1732 BORN FEB. 22 IN VIRGINIA 1749 APPOINTED PUBLIC SURVEYOR 1753 RAISED TO A MASTER MASON 1754 COMMISSIONED IN VIRGINIA REGIMENT 1758 ELECTED TO VIRGINIA ASSEMBLY 1759 MARRIED MARTHA DANDRIDGE CUSTIS 1761 INHERITED MOUNT VERNON 1774 DELEGATE FIRST CONTINENTAL CONGRESS 1780 BENEDICT ARNOLD BANISHED FOR TREASON. HE WAS ALSO CONVICTED OF TREASON IN HIS HOME MASONIC LODGE AND WAS FORCED TO MOVE OUT OF THE COUONTRY. AFTER MANY YEARS AFTER 1789 HE BEGGED GEORGE WASHINGTON TO RESTORE HIS MEMBERSHIP AS A MASON AND UNITED STATES CITIZEN. HE WAS DENIED AND ESCORTED OUT OF THE COUNTRY. BROTHER WASHINGTON PASSED AWAY ON DECEMBER 14 1799 AT HIS MT VERNON HOME AND WAS BURRIED WITH FULL MASONIC HONORS. Just a small bit of history you may enjoy, If this comment is excessively long for you I will not be offended if you do not post it or remove it.
