Singer/songwriter Hugo (the moss) draws inspiration from folk musicians such as Rickie Lee Jones, Tracy Chapman, Paul Simon and James Taylor and also artist like Jeff Buckley and Pearl Jam. As a teenage 90s rock supporter, Pearl jam admirer and 70's Rock and Folk fan, Hugo started to play guitar in the mid-90s, immediately thinking about writing his own rock driven songs. Hugo became serious about performing while attempting to make music with school colleagues in the late '90s. In late 2001, start composing this time for his own solo project, alone was a pro-choice. Played in small clubs and music challenges around Porto between 2001 and 2004, the year Hugo recorded diffuse words demo CD (home recording) and got to National Radio ANTENA 3 Quinta dos Portugueses 2004 contest, only 12 artists selected between hundreds.
Later on, aside with Joel Maia on Bass, Marcelo Araújo on drums, also with some guests, Studio EP THE MOSS is the most recent trace of Mosss music journey. A 2007 edition, registered on his own, making a great impression on the Portuguese Music scene. Air-played in Antena3, RUM, RUC and RUA University Radio Stations and reviewed and noticed on public papers such us METRO, PRIMEIRO DE JANEIRO, etc.
Not that Hugo Moss gives a lot of significance to gigs, he loves to be on stage, but not that much; ‘see me as a bird, going out there means that I might be shot by some shooter who doesn’t have the time or the will to notice where am I flying to, where does my journey takes me.
Not that I let myself carry down with this, but sometimes it bothers me a bit.
What I know is that I have to make it, I need to make music, and I need music!
