Click on the link of the blog ' BUY THE ALBUM' to procceed. HULKK is a powerful trio founded in 2001 by Renaud Mayeur, Matthieu Dumont and Michel Degreef. Fans of hard rock and garage, the music rings along the lines of MC5, Saints and others Damned, AC/DC, Motorhead and so on… In 2001, Giacomo Panarisi replaced Michel Degreef on drums and together they recorded their first album « Party Time » (Suburban). A title fitting their music and style well; direct, simple and real with sounds the group truly loved to play. The album was well received by Belgian, Dutch and international press being hailed as « Best Belgian Rock Album – 2003 » by OOR and a 91% rating from AARDSHOCK. The single « Babe » even received air play on the BBC John Peel Show (R.I.P.). Thanks to their hectic gig schedules in the Benelux, a chance meeting with Dave Catching from The Eagles Of Death Metal, they recorded their next album in America at the « Rancho De La Luna » with his help. In 2005, the eagerly awaited « Cowboy Coffee And Burned Knives » was released. Recorded and mixed in 9 days in the Californian desert, they returned from the adventure drained as the producers worked hard but played harder. David Catching, Jesse Hughes and Chris Goss all helped in bringing the album together, notably « Gimme Some Skinz » and « Sweet Love ». The album was largely appreciated by most critics: « …One of the best rock cd this year… » (OOR, nl) ; « …A perfect soundtrack to some late night space travel… » (Metal Hammer, uk) ; « …8/10… » (Rocksound, uk) ; « …****… Other stoner rockers should be jealous about it… » (De Morgen, be) ; « …The best and probably the only real rock’n’roll band on the French part of Belgium… » (RIFF RAFF, be) ; « …Un disco della madonna… » (Rockerilla, it). And led to a whirl wind of gigs included playing: Pukkelpop (be), Lokerse Feesten (be), Dour (be), Paradisio, Melkweg (nl), Aeronef, Grand Mix,… sharing stages with MC5, The Stooges, Monster Magnet and once again with The Eagles of Death Metal… Following this, after much needed reflection and leaving bad habits behind they released « A Deep Grave As A Shelter » with their side project « Les Anges », with Sandra Hagenaar (Keyboard player from « 50 Foot Combo »), a sonic laboratory that has a very good press but where band lost a bit of his identity… Bouli Lanners, a famous Belgian actor, had a « coup de foudre » for one of the songs from « Les Anges » album, « Vendetta ». He asked Renaud Mayeur to compose the soundtrack of his second movie « Eldorado » with 3 prices at the Festival de Cannes, and now a nomination for « Oscars » as best foreign movie… Currently, HULKK is recording their 3rd album of which free extracts will be available from the 01/01/09 through the bands myspace shortly followed by the still unnamed album featuring surprise guests and more… Stay tuned… THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!!!!!!!! ..
