Through a variety of publications and public forums, the Institute provides citizens of Colorado and the nation with specific recommendations to help resolve important issues facing our communities. These issues include improving our educational system, containing health-care costs, widening economic freedom, and controlling violent crime.

Hosted by Independence Institute's President Jon Caldara, Independent Thinking is the hottest current affairs show on Colorado television! Tune in every Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. (or catch the repeat showing Tuesday evening at 5:00) on KBDI Channel 12 (Channel 32 in Colorado Springs). That's right after Colorado Inside Out, with regular panelist David Kopel, at 8:00.
David Kopel: Supreme Court Victory…Now What?
In the first ever major pronouncement on gun rights, the United States Supreme Court ruled that Americans do have a right to own guns for self defense and hunting. The split decision is certainly good news for Second Amendment advocates but what does it mean to proponents of gun control, and should Americans be concerned about the Court’s lack of consensus? Those are just a couple of the questions that I pose to Independent Thinking guests David Kopel of the Independence Institute and Patricia Kramer, president of the Colorado Chapter of the Million Mom March/Brady Campaign.

The Independence Institute is established upon the eternal truths of the Declaration of Independence. Founded in 1985, the Independence Institute is a non-partisan, non-profit public policy research organization dedicated to providing timely information to concerned citizens, government officials, and public opinion leaders.
Because the pursuit of happiness and the enjoyment of life and liberty are matters of individual choice, the Institute addresses a broad variety of public policy issues from a free-market, pro-freedom perspective.
Through the Institute's Policy Centers, areas of critical importance are addressed with a dedicated focus. The centers allow the public and media access to a concentrated source of expertise on education, the environment, transportation, personal freedom, government reform, local government, and criminal justice.
Unlike other organizations which see government intervention as the only solution, the Independence Institute seeks to explore all alternatives, emphasizing private-sector and community-based solutions. The Independence Institute is recognized by friend and foe alike as one of the most effective organizations at setting a freedom agenda for Colorado and the United States.
On March 23rd 1775 Patrick Henry delivered the famous "give me liberty or give me death" speech. On March 23rd 2008 help us elect a liberty-minded candidate to Congress. This is the next phase of our revolution. We must support those who are running for office in order to support Dr. Paul. This March 23rd please help us honor this great moment in American history. "Give me liberty or give me death!"
