"Theoretical Girl is looking every inch as if she could be the surprise female artist of the year, following on from the limited edition release The Hypocrite, she gives us another brilliant single in the shape of Another Fight.
A deliciously understated pop song, that oozes simplicity and beauty in equal measure, it shimmers musically, while the lyrics take on an apologetic angle to a troubled relationship.
Less obvious and mainstream than Duffy, Adele and co, Amy Turnnidge will be the underground darling of this year."
The Beat Surrender
I would doubt that Amy Turnnidge, aka Theoretical Girl, is as coy and sweet as her new single, "Another Fight," makes her seem. Listen to some of her other, more aggressive, work to validate this. "Another Fight" is a charming detour. It is a melodic plea for reconciliation, crafted into a retro-electro-pop bubble, without being all knotted up in nerves and beauty and riddled with sadness. With that atmospheric voice and her dark eyes and Snow White (of the Seven Dwarves gang) choice of wardrobe, I’d agree to all her terms. She’s a bright new avatar among the faces of female British performers.

The ironic thing is that the only records I've bought in the past two years have been released by people I know personally. Even though you don't make any cash from the sales of singles, I feel like I should show my support somehow.
Theoretical Girl's Fantastic cover of "Nursery, Academy" by Tokyo Police Club on my radio show, The British Breakfast on WRIR 97.3FM Richmond, Virginia USA (www. wrir. org) this Saturday between 9-11am my time which is 2-4pm UK time. This group is on the verge. See you in America within the year!
I finally got hold of your latest 7" the other day. Both sides are very good, but I think I still love the acoustic version best. Hope all is well with you. Enjoy Paris!
Hi Amy, Thanks for your rapid reply. :-) The old album deal seems to be an illusive beast at the moment. I'm sure one will be along soon though. - Come on record companies, pull your fingers out! In the mean time, your singles will do very nicely. ;-) Cheers, and have a great rest of the week. Dominic x
Hello Amy, Is there a Theoretical album in the works? Great to hear that you've got a track on Amelia's Magazine, I hope I'm not too late to get a copy. All your singles have been pure class. Hope you have a lovely day, Dominic x
