“These guys are going places.” These five words by Las Vegas Weekly writer April Corbin sum up the short but impressive
history of pop/rock Vegas band Imagine Dragons. Since the band’s earliest configuration in late 2008, they have
already managed to win back to back battle of the bands, open for multiplatinum recording artists in front of
10,000+ crowds, and take first prize in competitions like Utah’s Got Talent. More importantly, they have earned the
love and respect of the Vegas community and the interest of industry movers and shakers across the nation.
Front man Dan Reynolds is Vegas to the core – 4th generation to be exact. True to his heritage, Reynolds is a
genetically compulsive showman, sometimes erratic and always captivating. Wayne Sermon and Ben McKee, on
guitar and bass respectively, are long time friends from Berklee College of Music where they earned their serious
chops. Andrew Tolman and Brittany Robinson round out the band with their drums and keys, both with extensive
experience touring and performing around the world.
But the best bands in the world are better than the sum of the talent of their individual members, and Imagine
Dragons is no exception. The band’s synergy in songcrafting and performance is unmistakable. As noted by Las
Vegas Citylife Magazine in a review of a recent performance, "The near-capacity Hard Rock crowd who witnessed
Thursday night's closer. . . saw a frantic yet diligently executed, perfectly mixed finale that, for the first time I've
witnessed locally in a quite a while, had the audience bolting to their feet and roaring, happily startled at the
explosion.”
Imagine Dragons is a young band with young members, but these kids aren’t wasting any time. As a Las Vegas
Weekly music critic explained, "While the atmosphere is electric, the band still seems restrained by the small setting
. . . its members are hungry for more." Their insatiable appetite for greatness drives them to long hours of practice
and a hefty workload of songwriting and performances. The restless energy of Imagine Dragons is infectious.
Come to a show and you will find out why.
RECENT PRESS:
"Las Vegas-based Imagine Dragons has been creating a lot of buzz and looks set to become a household name soon. Music experts are predicting they are the next big act to come out of Las Vegas following on the heels of The Killers and Panic! At the Disco." - VegasDeluxe.com (Oct 30, 2009)
"Upon taking in this bunch's new EP you get the sense that they could probably turn the recitation of the ingredients to a bottle of Prell into an arms-in-the-air anthem. With outsized synth lines, ringing, perpetually cresting guitars and massive syncopated beats and cymbal splashes, Imagine Dragons don't make any bones about believing that bigger is always better... it'll only be a matter of time before a song like "Curse" is all over the radio." - Jason Bracelin, Las Vegas Review Journal (EP Review - Oct 29, 2009)
"The driving beat and hook-laden melody will burrow its way into your brain and stay there — and that’s a very, very good thing... the desert sky’s the limit for these Vegas natives." - Steve Pierce, Rhombus Magazine: Song of the Day (Sep 11, 2009)
"The near-capacity Hard Rock crowd who witnessed Thursday night's closer. . . saw a frantic yet diligently executed, perfectly mixed finale that, for the first time I've witnessed locally in a quite a while, had the audience bolting to their feet and roaring, happily startled at the explosion." - Dave Surratt, Las Vegas Citylife (Jul 02, 2009)
"Imagine Dragons have produced a bloody quality tune with I Need A Minute ... fantastically dynamic, possessed of some sick bass riffs, great vocals and enough intelligence to veer away from ever sounding uncomfortably like The Killers at any point."
- Danny Wadeson, The 405: Cloud Corner, UK (Sep 21, 2009)
"Local band Imagine Dragons got to step onto the big stage when Train bowed out of Bite of Las Vegas. . . The rockers were on the second stage to start the day-long festival, but were invited to the main stage that evening to play in front of 20,000 people when Train lead singer Patrick Monahan took ill. Blue October Uncle Kracker and Parachute rounded out the headliners."
- Jason Scavone, Daily Fiasco (Oct 19, 2009)
". . . slayed a mesmerized crowd led by Dan Reynolds on vox and keys, delivering beautifully-produced yet exotic indie rock-pop tunes that put this new band high on the wave of new indie talent exploding nationally. . ." - "Eggman" Steve Eggleston, Vegas Rocks! Magazine (Jul 02, 2009)
"After winning two battles [of the bands], booking other shows, and watching their fan base grow each day, the future is looking brighter and brighter for Imagine Dragons." - Spencer Flanagan, The Daily Universe (Jan 15, 2009)
"Armed with catchy tunes and industry know-how, these [Dragons] are going places." - April Corbin, Las Vegas Weekly (Jul 16, 2009)
". . . included a set by daring, driving, interesting punk-pop act Imagine Dragons, whose total, big-label-worthy package crept up and smacked unsuspecting diners into slack-jawed amazement and cheers by the end." - Dave Surratt, Local Music Issue, Las Vegas Citylife (Jul 16, 2009)
