IMATEM is a musical project created by Peter Spilles (frontman and mastermind of the band Project Pitchfork).
This project combines the experiences and the energy of some of the most inspiring musicians and vocal artists of the gothic/electro scene.
A peculiar characteristic behind the IMATEM project is that, while Peter Spilles entirely composes the music, he often invites renowned fellow musicians to perform the vocals on his compositions.
On the newest release 'Journey' (2008) Spilles chose to increase and reinforce the collaboration with other singers, so that 8 out of 10 tracks are sung by other artists, such as Ronan Harris (VNV Nation), Sven Friedrich (Zeraphine/Solar Fake), Stefan Grossmann (Absurd Minds), Sara Noxx, Jinxy (Santa Hates You), Jay Smith (Deviant UK), Nick (Legacy Of Music) and Jan Revolution.
Shortly after the album's release, the Club-EP version of "Journey" reached 1 on the DAC (Deutsche Alternative Charts) singles charts.
IMATEM ist ein musikalisches Projekt von Peter Spilles (Project Pitchfork).
Eine Besonderheit dieses Projektes ist, dass Peter Spilles den kompositorischen Aspekt allein übernimmt, und er bekannte Mitmusiker einlädt, die den Gesang auf seinen Kompositionen beisteuern.
2007 veröffentlichte IMATEM das Album 'Home', auf dem, neben Spilles selbst, verschiedene Künstler aus der Szene (Der Graf von Unheilig, miLù, Falk Lenn und Lacasa del Cid) den Songs ihre Stimme leihen.
Dieses Konzept führt Peter Spilles nun auch auf dem zweiten IMATEM Album 'Journey' (2008) fort, auf dem sich erneut zahlreiche namhafte Akteure aus der Elektroszene hinter dem Mikro tummeln und überwiegend auch selbst die Lyrics zu den Songs verfasst haben. Tatsächlich sind auf acht von zehn Tracks verschiedenste Gesangsstimmen zu hören, die für ein Maximum an Abwechslung sorgen. Dabei sind Ronan Harris (VNV Nation), Sven Friedrich (Zeraphine/Solar Fake), Stefan Großmann (Absurd Minds), Sara Noxx, Jinxy (Santa Hates You), Jay Smith (Deviant UK), Nick (Legacy Of Music) und Jan Revolution. Dazu gesellt sich ein von Spilles allein vorgetragenes Stück namens 'No One' sowie ein Instrumental.
Die 'Journey Club-EP' erreichte übrigens Platz 1 in den DAC Singlecharts.
