Buy the new album "Beyond" from Metropolis Records **HERE!**
In the summer of 1993, Da5id Din and Matthew Crofoot formed Informatik based on a shared interest in the electronic music that was coming from Europe. They began recording together immediately, and after founding SINless Records, self-released their debut album Direct Memory Access in 1995. Their independent success quickly caught the eye of Metropolis Records, who re-released their debut as the remastered Direct Memory Access V2.0 with extra bonus tracks and a video for the club smash "At Your Command".
Two productive years passed while Da5id and Matthew worked on their respective side projects. Da5id, working as Din_Fiv, released his debut album Infinity in 1996, while 1997 brought Matthew's techno project LogiQ, who released Big on Mars that year. During this time, the pair began recording the sophomore-slump defying album Syntax. Released on Metropolis in 1998 to critical acclaim, the album spawned a series of club hits that are still in rotation a decade later, such as "Entropy", "Watching You Watching Me", and "Things To Come".
Never content to rest on past achievement, Da5id immediately began working on the followup to Infinity, and saw the Din_Fiv album Escape to Reality storm the charts in 2000. A highly successful US tour followed, with label mates Velvet Acid Christ and Haujobb. Joining Da5id onstage was Tyler Newman, creative mastermind behind Battery Cage. Following this tour, Matthew left Informatik to pursue other projects, and Tyler came on board to replace him.
2002 saw the release of Nymphomatik, the first proper Informatik release in 4 years, and the first record with the new lineup. The change in personnel also brought a change in the band's sound; away from the more European electro sound of the first two records, and towards a more contemporary trance-influenced style. Considered an almost perfect 'future-pop' album by critics, Nymphomatik brought even more instant club hits to the band's discography, with anthems like "A Matter of Time" and "Flesh Menagerie" popping up in set-lists around the world.
While Tyler was working on the Battery Cage album A Young Person's Guide To Heartbreak, Informatik took a short break to reflect on the success of the past as well as the direction of their future output. In 2005 they released yet another amazing dance album Re:Vision, a collection of new material as well as redesigned versions of some of their older hits from Nymphomatik and Syntax. Featuring not only original club hits like "The World Belongs To Us", alongside remixes by the likes of Funker Vogt and Iris, Re:Vision raised the bar for the band's unstoppable trance based future-pop sound. The band co-headlined numerous US festivals and did a string of live appearances to support Re:Vision. In 2007, an all new live show was assembled to begin promoting their upcoming release.
After a hiatus of 3 years, Informatik returns with the new album Beyond, their most unique and genre-defying work to date. Taking their signature sound in a new direction, Da5id and Tyler have come back with an album that sets it's sights on destroying the expectation of the 'Informatik sound'. Featuring guitar driven dark melodies and soulful lyrics, Beyond delivers powerful electronic arena rock anthems such as "It Always Ends The Same" and "Nothing Greater" alongside the infectious beats of "Temporary" and "Louder Than Words". Committed to the ideal of setting the standard for electronic music, Informatik delivers their best record ever, and challenges their fans to truly go...BEYOND!!
