'One of the most remarkable and moving documentaries ever made by an Australian' Tom Ryan -The Age.
'An eye-witness account of what took place before, during and after the attack on BaghdadIts a fascinating insight' Margaret Pomeranz - At the Movies - ABC
In the Shadow of the Palms is the only documentary filmed in Iraq prior to, during, and after the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. It documents the changes in Iraqi society, and the lives of ordinary Iraqis by focusing on a cross-section of individuals. The aim of the film is to present audiences with a window into the everyday realities for those living through this controversial war.
Ipso-facto Productions spent over 10 weeks in Baghdad, filming during an exceptional period in World history. Despite harassment by the Australian Government and Funding agencies we returned to Iraq to document life for the characters we had met.
We could have made a more emotional or sensational film for audiences, but strongly believe that Documentaries have a requirement to be Truthful and Document the people and situations for all of humanity.
Who I'd like to meet: Ipso-facto Productions specialises in telling stories that can't be told or won't be told.
The documentary follows individuals in diverse positions in society.
Their personal experiences provide an intriguing insight into a cross-section of Iraqi society both before and during the war.
The individuals include a Professor of Arabic Poetry, an Olympic Wrestling Coach, a Cobbler who works in a marketplace and a selection of minor characters who illuminate the diversity of society in Iraq.
We follow them in their daily lives and into their homes, and we watch their demeanor change as they increasingly face the realities of War and Regime change.

This Thanksgiving I am thankfull that we have the right to ammend the constitution via article 5. Yeh forefathers. A peacefull way for us to address the combined 20% approval rating of our beloved leaders.
I have notived that bulletens get little to no effect. I found that comments or direct messages are much more effective at finding new signers.
I am taking the time today to send every single freind (some 600+) a personal message or comment, and that includes you.
Would you please take this message and send it to at least one freind, or write your own and send it to someone you think will sign?
lets try to double the signatures. If everyone gets one more person that will be 1,200, and that will double, and that will, etc. It poses the old addage, would you rather take a penny now or a penny that doubled every day for 30 days?
I want to personally thank you for your interest in promoting peace. With the President and Congress having a collective approval rating of 25%, we need to do something.
Would you help letting others no that we can stop the war with a petition and that we can do it from the comfort of our computers?
This first link goes to a place for information on a petition to end the war,
If you would like to stop the war, send a friend request and sign the petition, here is a link.
If every person tells everyone they know, and they tell everyone they know, and it continues before we know it we will have enough signatures to submit.
If you can recommend any resources that I should post this on please let me know.
We can end the war, we can do it for free, we can do it from the comfort of our living rooms. There were 500,000 people at Woodstock protesting the war. That was then. We can convene an unlimited number of people right now over the internet.
Heck, just look at how many myspace profiles there are, 170 million or so? 70% of America is on-line, 50% at home, the rest at some other location. Technically because of free public libraries EVERY American now has access to the internet.
It can be done.
There is no truer form of democracy then the people petitioning the government directly in an effort to peaceably modify policy.
Spread the word! Its free after all. We have freedom of speech, so lets use
Well the filmmaker community was starting to get a bit stagnant due the fact that I was the only administrator and coder so the business side of the site kept me plenty busy. I have now migrated the users and posts to a location where there is more support, admins, and coders. The merger was with scenespot.com a social networking site that I purchased. All usernames and passwords from indierevolt.com are the same and your information is all still stored within the new database :) IndieRevolt.com will now redirect you to Filmmaker Community since migration we have already received new filmmakers and we hope that the trend keeps up :)
Scenespot.com - a place for shens Thank you
