I cannot take credit for the concept here, that accolade must go to Charlie Pinder Sony/V2/Burlywood.
One rainy winters night in Cork, he came up with the idea of doing Old Irish folk songs, a la Skully!
And so two years ago I set to work creating Skully versions of these beautiful old Irish songs. Although very electronic (after all that is what I do!) I strove to maintain the powerful emotion that these timeless master pieces possess.
The album was recorded at the beautiful Rushbrook Hotel in Cobh, where I was spoilt rotten! and at my little cottage (Seen in the photos)
I would like to sincerely thank all the artists who gave me their time and talent, each adding his or her own color and style to the songs.
We had great fun making it! I hope everyone supporting it here, has the same fun listening!

I will never tire of this thoroughly entertaining album. Even today, after listening so many times, I heard a new sound effect [music medly cleverly hidden - perfectly placed]! It is like opening an endless gift box. Skully's music ROCKS!

The turkey shot out of the oven and rocketed into the air, it knocked every plate off the table and partly demolished a chair.
It ricocheted into a corner and burst with a deafening boom, then splattered all over the kitchen, completely obscuring the room.
It stuck to the walls and the windows, it totally coated the floor, there was turkey attached to the ceiling, where there'd never been turkey before.
It blanketed every appliance, it smeared every saucer and bowl, there wasn't a way I could stop it, that turkey was out of control.
I scraped and I scrubbed with displeasure, and thought with chagrin as I mopped, that I'd never again stuff a turkey with popcorn that hadn't been popped.

The radiance surrounding Skully on the "Irish Makeover" album cover photo is quite fitting! His creative composition of the instrumental layers in each track is captivating. Each time you listen to a piece of Skully music, you hear a new instrumental effect that you missed on the prior listens. Its NOT likely that you will ever tire of Skully's music.
Listening to "Irish Makeover" this weekend while driving to Boston; sure enough I heard something I had missed before! Discretely layered, so it does not diminish Kate Murphy's lovely vocals, there is a 'typically Skully' "HOT PIANO" medley in "All Around My Hat"; {much like Skully's "HOT PIANO" in his "Being There" which he produced in his teens!
