The Lost Media Archive is a Utah/California-based collection of mondo/kitch/cult/
ephemeral/experimental/historical/obsolete/forgotten/unearthed audio-visual and textual documents. LMA is also a
resource for those who cling to bygone media formats. When possible, the LMA maintains equipment and media for
use by recordists and filmmakers. The LMA was founded by Blair Sterrett and works together with loaf-i productions
and the Free Form Film Festival to arrange screenings, viewings, and concerts. The LMA also promotes and initiates the
creation of new and unusual films, albums, performative projects, and book events.

We will be hosting a very special OUT/EX on Saturday October 24th! Katie Durrant from Canada (and ring leader of ISMN-Canada) will be hosting the event! The theme will be educational films compiled by the Trash Palace. The event will be hosted at No Brow Coffee and Tea (about 300 S 300 E in Salt Lake City) and will start at 7 PM. This event is 100% totally F-R-E-E!
09/14/2009 - Secretary Dottie here from the LMA just letting you all know what the word is. I apologize for the lack of updates. Hopefully that will change soon! Here's the listing of upcoming films from our Incredibly Strange Movie Night series. All films will be in Provo, Utah. Dates and time are subject to change. If you want to join our email list contact Blair (bcsterrett@gmaildotcom).
Thursday September 17th - King Dinosaur (1955)
Ten million miles away, astronauts discover another “earth” inhabited by “dinosaurs”. Actually, the dinosaurs consist of a giant iguana, comodo dragon, gilla monster, and a giant wandering armadillo! Sterrett has long awaited the day when he could finally view this long out of print masterpiece of cheapness! Early effort from director Bert I. Gordon.
Thursday September 24th - The Little Prince (1974)
Unusual/stylized “live action” version of Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s “Le Petit Prince”. LMA member Heather Show’s favorite film! Sterrett regrets never watching/avoiding this film during his youth. Screened once years ago during Lost Media’s Tower Theater film series in SLC. Here’s your 2nd chance! Golden Globe Winner and nominated for two Oscars!
Thursday October 1st - The Manster (1960)
“The film you saw as a kid but never remembered its name” – IMDB
Yes, it’s “that” film about the guy who grows an eyeball on his shoulder, which turns into a scary plastic 2nd head. He then goes insane and terrorizes a Japanese community.
Originally double billed with Gorges Franju’s “Eyes Without a Face”, and blatantly ripped off in Sam Raimi’s “Army of Darkness”.
Thursday October 8th - Night of the Ghouls (1958)
Ed Wood’s 3rd best movie! Thought to be a lost film, “N.O.T.G.” sat in a can for over 20 years because Wood couldn’t afford to print it. Everything you’d expect from a Wood film. Starring several of the “Plan 9” and “Bride of the Monster” misfits i.e. Criswell, Tor Johnson (who’s mask can still be seen on the “Terror Ride” at Lagoon!), Cop Paul Marco, and Vampira wannabe Valda Hansen. Classic!!!
Thursday October 15th- The Outer Limits:Demon With a Glass Hand (1963)
A man with a talking glass hand, has to find all of his missing fingers from time traveling aliens in order to save the human race, who have been transformed into electric impulses. …along the way a custodial woman pines for his affection. Considered by most to be the best episode of “The Outer Limits”. Classic television at it’s weirdest.
Thursday October 22nd - Planet of Storms (1981)
The rare original Russian film before it was re-edited by Roger Corman for American audiences as “Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet.” Including an entirely different actress! Classic Soviet Sci-Fi.
Thursday October 29th - Our Halloween Feature! Qian nu you hun (1987)
Aka: A Chinese Ghost Story
Extremely influential Chinese film, inspiring countless sequels and ripoffs. Influenced by the films of Sam Raimi and Ray Harrihausen. A True Cinema Masterpiece – IMDB
