Attention charlatans and theives of Native Culture. What is required here is a lesson - a history lesson. We will give you the benefit of the doubt that you do not realize what you are doing when you 'adopt' Native culture or 'become a medicine woman/man at that weekend retreat'. When the white invasion came, the motto of the time was "Kill the Indian, Save the Man" - and the instrument used to accomplish this was residential schools, beatings, torture and oft-times, death. To speak your native tongue, sing your songs, dance or sweat - all were actions punishable by the harshest and strictist means. So, when you become a pretendian you - inadvertently or not - mock the Native traditions and you are not only disrespecting the people of now...you are disrespecting a race, a culture and a heritage.
The day was December 29, 1890 - an important date to Native people, an event called WOUNDED KNEE. Over 300 (though numbers vary) men, women and children were cut down by soldiers, rifles and Hotchkiss guns. They dug a hole and threw the frozen bodies in. Most white folks wouldn't even treat their pet like this - Indians were nothing more then rats on two legs. Then 20 medals of honor were pinned on the assassins lapels. We do not believe you are honoring these people who DIED trying to keep their traditions. Your actions spit on the graves of the dead. Is this your message?

Wasilla Police Billed Sexual Assault Victims for Their Own Rape Kits 08Sep08
Of all of the things I’ve learned about Sarah Palin in the last week and a half, this has got to be the most disturbing. While Sarah Palin was serving as the Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, the city charged victims of sexual assault between $300 and $1200 for their own rape kits. A rape kit is a sexual assault forensic evidence kit, used to collect DNA that can be used in criminal proceedings to assist in the conviction of those who commit sex crimes. The kit is performed as soon as possible after a sexual assault or attack has been committed. It is usually humiliating and uncomfortable for the victim–imagine enduring that and then paying $1200 just so that the criminal who assaulted you might be caught.
