The idea of this band started long ago... since three guys from jandira decided that they’d make some noise. Influenced by American Thash metal bands, German Metal, NWOBHM, Hardcore and lot’s of other stuff, the band starts building its own style.
In May 2001 , Léo Axekiller (b/v), Marcelo Barbosa (g/v) e Bruno Barbosa (d), create in Jandira the spine of Jackhammer, previously known as Wild hunter. By that time Ivan was part of the band as a base guitar player. Ivan went onstage with Jackhammer three times before leaving to dedicate himself to Crusher Force, band which was formed by him. After Ivan’s departure Jackhammer went on as a trio playing at some gigs around São Paulo’s metropolitan area until stopping its activities in July 2003 after performing at Crimsom Bar, Pirituba /SP
Meanwhile Jackhammer stopped its activities Léo Axekiller tried to continue the band’s work, getting to play with com Felipe Nizuma (Blasthrash), Cristiano Crispim (Darkness in flame), Vitor Hugo (ex Darkness in flame) Roberto (ex Crusher force, beermug) and Ivan Carlos (Crusher force), but, as expected, the same magic wouldn’t happen.
In 2004 Bruno and Marcelo wanted to come back to the band and after some conversation and some rearrangements the band started to work again in Deceber. In an one-year period they composed songs which made their sound peculiar. Then, in December 2005, Adriana Lobardi joins Jackhammer to fill up the space left by Ivan and does a great job, not only playing the base, like the previus player did, but also elaboratint riffs and melodies that completed Jackhammers sonority. Adriana played with Jackhammer in two gigs and contributed for the recording of their demo “Speed metal Chrusher”, which was released in December 2006 at Molotov Thrash Fest, that took place at Arena Metal Bar in Osasco/ São Paulo.
After Adriana left the band Jackhammer played as a trio for some time, but still looking for a guitar player until they found Jailton (ex Vohalls, Nebulizer, Jackhammer) who had already played with Marcelo at Vohalls. However, Jailton joined the band for one month only, because he showed himself not to match the band’s expectations musically and in relation to his posture, which depreciated Heavy Metal and metalheads.
Nowadays Jackhammer is a trio again and finally, after years and years fighting for their space in the underground scene and searching for a label, Jackhammer gets a contract with Dark Sun, a label from Rio de Janeiro that has already released albums by bands like Farscape, Apocaliptic Raids, Flagelador and others. Jackhammer is preparing new material for their debut, which will be called HARD TO BE ALIVE and is going to be ready soon.
A idéia da banda já vem de longa data... Desde que três moleques de Jandira resolveram que queriam fazer barulho. Com influencias de bandas de thrash metal americano, metal alemão, NWOBHM, hardcore e mais um monte de tranqueira a banda começa definir seu próprio estilo.
Em maio de 2001, Léo Axekiller (b/v), Marcelo Barbosa (g/v) e Bruno Barbosa (d), formam em Jandira /SP a espinha dorsal do Jackhammer, anteriormente chamada Wild Hunter. Nessa época contavam com Ivan Carlos na guitarra base, que fez três apresentações com a banda até deixá-la em janeiro de 2003 para dedicar-se ao Crusher Force banda da qual era fundador. Após a saída de Ivan o Jackhammer seguiu como trio fazendo algumas apresentações na região metropolitana de São Paulo até paralisar as suas atividades em junho de 2003 após uma apresentação no Crimsom bar, Pirituba / SP.
No tempo em que o Jackhammer ficou parado Léo Axekiller tentou continuar o trabalho da banda, chegando a tocar com Felipe Nizuma (Blasthrash), Cristiano Crispim (Darkness in flame), Vitor Hugo (ex Darkness in flame) Roberto (ex Crusher force, beermug) e Ivan Carlos (Crusher force), porém como era de se esperar a química de outrora não rolava.
Em meados de 2004 Bruno e Marcelo querem voltar para a banda e depois de algumas conversas e alguns acertos a banda reinicia suas atividades em dezembro do mesmo ano. No período de um ano aproximadamente compuseram musicas que tornaram bem peculiar o som da banda. Então em dezembro de 2005 Adriana Lombardi entra no Jackhammer para preencher a lacuna deixada por Ivan, e executa um excelente trabalho, não só fazendo as bases como o guitarrista anterior, mas sim elaborando riffs e melodias que completaram a sonoridade do Jackhammer. Adriana faz dois shows alem de contribuir com a primeira gravação da banda: a demo SPEED METAL CRUSHER que foi lançada em dezembro de 2006 no Molotov Thrash fest, ocorrido no Arena Metal Bar em Osasco/ São Paulo.
Com a saída de Adriana o Jackhammer ficou um bom tempo tocando como trio, porém procurando outro guitarrista até acharem Jailton (ex Vohalls, Nebulizer, Jackhammer) que já havia tocado com o Marcelo no Vohalls. Porém Jailton ficou apenas um mês na banda pois mostrou que não estava de acordo com as expectativas da banda, musicalmente e em relação a sua postura que era desdenhosa em relação ao heavy metal e seus apreciadores.
Atualmente o Jackhammer encontra-se como trio novamente e finalmente após arduos anos de roles furados, shows miados e procura de selo, consegue um contrato com a Dark Sun, selo carioca que ja lançou varias bandas da cena underground nacional como o Farscape, Apocalyptic Raids, Flagelador entre outras. Está preparando o material para seu debut que se chamará HARD TO BE ALIVE e dentro em breve estará pronto.
