Growing up in New Zealand I was always a huge Crowded House Fan, listening to the radio and learning there songs from song books. I have always loved great pop songs and use to stayed tuned everyweek to see my favourite clips on RTR ie Cindy Lauper,Crowded House,U2 , Boy George, Susan Vega.
I started singing country music when I was very young and always loved Pasty Cline,Dolly Parton,Willie Nelson and I use to sing songs with my younger sister Katrina in country music festivals around New Zealand.
I have always had a love of Motown and Soul Music, I think because of the maori influence in New Zeland this is a big part of my roots and taste in music.
I started writing songs in my teens and this was when I discovered artist like Rickee Lee Jones and Neil Finn and Bonnie Raitt. Once I moved to Sydney/Australia in 1995 I discovered Joni Mitchell, The Band, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Shawn Colvin, Daniel Lanois. I fell in love with these singers and songwriters and I think this has had a big infulence on my songs to date.
In recent years I have loved Artists and Bands such as David Grey, Travis, Coldplay, Sheryl Crow, Paddy Griffin and Eva Cassidy.
