Pour ceux qui croyaient tout connaître du rock garage et avoir tout entendu, ce disque leur est destiné. Une voix veloutée plutôt grave qui ne s’énerve pas d’entrée de jeu, accompagnée de guitares qui savent se faire caresses pour l’instant d’après devenir grinçantes, ce premier album éponyme est une vraie surprise.
Jack Of Heart - que l’on traduira par Jahire, prénom du valet de cœur, soit l’une des figures sans valeur d’un jeu de cartes sauf à la belote où il devient la pièce maîtresse - sont des gagnants. Basés à Perpignan, un pays où la belote n’est peut-être pas aussi pratiquée qu’à Marseille mais où beaucoup s’y adonnent, ils règnent en maîtres sur la région et le genre énervé, stylé. Très proches des capitales espagnoles, on les y a maintes fois acclamés et cela n’est qu’un retour mérité. Leurs influences ? Sans aucun doute, les plaisirs de la fée électricité énoncés dans les compilations Peebles ou les coffrets Nuggets mais sans jamais tomber dans la pâle copie ou la reproduction historique. Bien qu’ils ne s’en réclament pas forcément, ce premier CD des Jack Of Heart a plus à voir avec la folie destructrice du rock garage qu’avec le rock and roll, terme abondamment utilisé dans leur bio, mais avec un petit truc en plus. Un petit truc difficile à expliquer, mais qui les a déjà fait remarquer de leurs pairs.
Se débrouillant très bien tous seuls et appartenant à la grande internationale du rock garage, ils tournent déjà outre-Manche et outre-Atlantique régulièrement, alors que leur premier CD, celui-ci, n’a même pas encore été commercialisé. Emmenés par Piero Ilov, c’est le chanteur-guitariste-leader chez qui les morceaux ont été enregistrés grâce à un 8 pistes analogiques, ce retour aux sources est forcément un atout puisque leur son caverneux et bourré de réverb' ne ressemble à pas grand-chose d’autre. Plus gros que les White Stripes. Plus aventureux que les Mustang. Moins scolaire que les King Khan. Bien meilleurs que les Swinging Neckbreakers. Les comparaisons à leur avantage pourraient être alignées pendant des lignes et des lignes. Les Jack Of Heart chantent en anglais et profiteront du mois de l’automne déclinant pour tourner dans nos belles contrées, mais ça n’est pas pour cela qu’ils seront prophètes en leur pays. Même s’ils le méritent.

Ilov’s newest endeavor finds him teaming up with six friends as the frontman to garage psych act Jack of Heart
Following the release of a split 7″ with Tunnel of Love, a debut 7″ and an opening tour slot with the Black Lips, the French act have timed the release of their self-titled, full length debut album perfectly. Sounding like early Syd Barrett mixed with The La’s and topped with a heavy dose of gritty punk sensibility, Jack of Heart are equally adept at melody and noise. The album is a well-tooled crescendo, starting off slow and introspective, building up to explosive, jangly pop hooks and then folding into itself and disappearing into a wall of noise for a memorable closing.
From the slow-burning opener “Yes You Know” to the standout, upbeat sing-along “Pony Grap” to the sharp-edged guitar showcase “More”, this album is one hell of a ride through the psychedelic underbelly of France.

Here the last Piero Ilov's Jacinth House songs from his secret garden . lead Gogoman of The Lightning Circus Band & the boom boom beat (w/ former BoomBoomDrummer Pierre Baradel) 1991-95, then The Mighty GO-GO Players (introducing his very LIVE primitiv bloodystyle of vox organ "playing")1996-99 then 2001-05, showed to people his the region (south France) what's the meaning of "Eat the Stage", and "SongWriting". Recording a bunch of 7" and 10" for different great bands (like Sonic chicken 4-2005, 2008; The Fatals-2004, 2005, 2006; The Mighty Go Go Players-2004, 2005, 2006, the Creteens-2006; Kung Fu Escalators-2006; The rebel-2005; etc) for different great labels around the world (Yakisakana, Robshouse, Nasty Product, Alien snatch, Zaxxon, Cass, etc ...Ilov knows how to bring you from the most naïve rolling feelings, throught pshyche-fuzz sounds, to the trashest punk energy with his evil own style recordings and mixings. Playing bass with the fatals-2005-06 and playing electric piano and organ with the Demon's Claws-2006-08, he might have few LP to record as much he got songs done in those past 8 years the Jack Of Heart might inherite. Coming back from the 6 weeks summer06 US tour Demons Claws W/ Mark Sultan's amazing BBQ (last tour as BBQ), Trux (from a NoïsePunk band surprizing any audience, being called and dressed as [Les] Hulks) joined the fact that piero and Benji (young fella from the other side of town[the greatest city ... Paris] Lead owner of the Creteens - straight reatard/teengenerate music already touring around Europe and United States even from his 21 years ) wanted to play together, and Alsexo Lafissur (lead singer & bass from the Hulks) could play bass understanding the "Fissur" Side of Piero's songs, as he(Fred Trux) believes in being able to beat the shit n skins out and on'em... This would be the first line up after have tried few times in the past years with some "bestfriends" and "girlfriends" unsuccesfully ... Piero could finaly form The Spades, and put all the Mighty Go Go Players Raw60'sGaragePunkFuzz songs Aside and taking back AAALLL the deep feelings ones that he didnt give to the Go-Go Players, continuing writing numbers...; the gates of dreams are open by now, this project is the last one he says he wants to do, something deep and wide like blowminded sounds coming from the VU, Rolling Stones, 13th floor Elevators, Syd Barrett, Stooges, Lyres, Oblivians, Gibson brothers and much more, puting the own jack of heart's touch in the very special Pireo's own Songwriting. now everybody can listen to it. enjoy the listening, come to their shows, and you ll promote one of the best "Rock for mamas & Lesbians" of all the time. at least that what they showed one their few european tours with Tunnel of love (unknow punk ref that Piero brought to european and US ears !) jan07 and apr08, Best Friends The Magnetix (powerfull and live stage band again) Agnes "Aggy" Magnetix being a Spade on bass, a velvet card on this nov08, and a USA tour oct08. Johan Darling (and Bastien litteraly jumped on drums AND/OR bass) another young fella not as experienced but grooving yet his own Slide guitar style jumping in JOH, while benji's put himself out of the Jack Of Heart's project (fired in the same time), Trux ("dream drums") changing his interest and suddenly left joh too]- and (...thats maybe why...) talked about The 4 Leaf Clovers (acting yet without Alex fissur) at the same time !!! - as motivated fools around Perpignan, Catalunya, showed up with Franswa helping piero a lot(mentaly & as a friend), Malone (master piece of bands from downtown 15 years ago, The (electric) Feedback (4), The Voxmen, moving back from about 10years in UK !) came on JOH strings! while forming the Spector Drum Section(with Seb), the revolution was finally done -solid JOH crew/team for great line-ups- september 2009 ready to keep your mind up for a while, smiling and dreaming earing joh's melodies. Jack Of Heart est résolument un groupe rock ... psyché-punk certes, aux sonorités sixties, aussi ... Sous les compositions de Piero Ilov, nous découvrons enfin un des rares groupes qui sort de : "vous avez écouté un morceaux = vous les avez tous écouté" : ici, ce n'est pas le cas.
De morceaux mid-tempo, mélodieux, tendre et envoutant, Jack of Heart peut passer à des
morceaux trash, fuzz speed et violent.
Eté 2006, Piero Ilov (alors encore membre actif de The Demon's Claws -sulfureux groupe de rock Montréal/Québec- et rentrant d'une tournée de 6 semaines aux USA) décide de former ce project , Jack Of Heart, né des cendres des précédentes "actions" (The Migthy Go-Go Players, The Fatals).
Il compose alors tous les morceaux qui sommeillaient en lui depuis des années, sans vraiment coller aux univers de ces derniers groupes. Jack Of Heart innove (et là est l'exploit !), parvenant à une
subtile combinaison de divers styles : Velvet Underground, Lee Hazlewood, Syd Barrett, Bassholes, Lyres, Oblivians, et plus; Sans tomber dans le plagia, ayant son identité propre et sa propre identité.
Depuis, 3 tours d'Europe (dont 2 avec le groupe Raw-punk de Boston, Massachusetts, Tunnel Of Love, et un avec les fabuleux MAGNETIX) et un tour aux Etats-Unis, plus quelques petits tours "commando" (France, Italie) ont fait connaître Jack Of Heart comme une référence rock en France, comme en Europe et dans le Monde [dixit- The Black Lips (déjà des légendes du rock vivantes), King Khan (de même, déjà inscrit dans l'histoire du rock rythm'n blues), In The Red (prestigieux label californien), The Magnetix (meilleur groupe rock français), etc etc].
Après une poignée de 45t sur différents labels, c'est donc finalement Born Bad Records qui aura l'honneur de sortir leur premier LP/CD à la rentrée septembre 2009.
C 'est un disque à avoir, c'est groupe à voir en concert! Attention ! ça va chahuter !!! ... -(O.K. Booking/Managing)
