What does a party in a squatted lecture hall sound like? Jack's Basement (ex- Porn Messiah) deliver the perfect soundtrack for it! Celebrating a mix of crunchy Mike Ness-like guitar riffs and lovely melodies that remind of the Dixie Chicks, the band has put Punk Rock and Roll on its banner. The lyrics are mostly humorous, no matter if the band demands another Harry Potter book or postulates that “distance is a bitch”.
After taking their hometown by storm with concerts in Halle 02, time-honored Schwimmbad Club and the occupied lecture hall 14 of Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg, the Heidelberg-based band has now started to assault the rest of the world with their music and has already been playing with bands like the Swedish Punk Rock 'n' Roll veterans Psychopunch.
Jack’s Basement consist of founder and band leader Polly Wood (vocals, guitar), Pulo (drums, backing vocals), Sir Paul of Groovington (bass, backing vocals), and Danny Idle (guitar, backing vocals). Their stated aim is to gain access to the rock Olympus without assembly line-like emo haircuts and H&M-accessories, even though the juries of the band contest Play Live 2010 and bandpool of Popakademie Mannheim hated them and found the vocals „so bad that they're almost good again“, „almost“ being the operative word.
