VOICI UNE PETITE INTRODUCTION:
Puisant dans leurs diverses influences et s’inspirant de leur société cosmopolite, le réalisateur PATRICE AGBOKOU et le poète/chanteur Jahnice le SONNEUR en viennent à concevoir la « SOUL HYBRIDE », une symbolique universelle musicale et poétique où la mélancolie, la liberté, l’espoir, l’insouciance, le ralliement, l’authenticité et le positivisme tourbillonnent avec allégresse. Comme un feu d’artifice musical, ce son multicolore combine la voix Soul du Sonneur à des harmonies d’inspiration lyrique. Il mélange l’intensité du rock alternatif et les rythmes saccadés des musiques afro-caribéennes aux sonorités électroniques. Autour de ce son avant-gardiste et de leur message rassembleur, Patrice et Jahnice reunissent des musiciens tous issues d’horizons differents. Ensemble, ils forment une petite famille musicale qu’ils appellent JAHNICE+. Ce groupe est composé de NOEL MPIAZA à la batterie, de STEPHANE PETROCCA à la basse, d’ELLI MABOUNGOU aux percussions, d’ANNAM NGUYEN à la guitare et aux choeurs, de GENEVIEVE ST-PIERRE aux claviers et aux choeurs, et de MARIE COURNOYER aux chœurs. Fueled by their diverse influences and finding inspiration in their shared cosmopolitan surroundings, producer PATRICE AGBOKOU and singer/poet Jahnice "LE SONNEUR" created HYBRID SOUL, a universal, positivity-charged, poetic tornado of melancholy, freedom, hope, catharsis, authenticity, and a call to action. Like fireworks, their musical sparks and colours unite the soul vocals of Jahnice, classical harmonies, the intensity of alternative rock, syncopated Afro-Caribbean rhythms, and electronic accents. Around their avante-garde sound and common message, Jahnice and Patrice attract musicians from all horizons. Together, they have formed a close-knit musical family called JAHNICE+ (Jahnice "plus"). The hybrid soul team consists of NOEL MPIAZA on drums, STEPHANE PETROCCA on bass, ELLI MABOUNGOU on percussion, ANNAM NGUYEN on guitar and back vocals, GENEVIEVE ST-PIERRE ..s and back vocals, and MARIE COURNOYER on back vocals. With their combined identities and personalities, their groove counters societal indifference of the day, and their sound awakens the spirit with each toll of their (symbolic) bell.
