Idle Sundays eating Tomato Soup...I grew up with was all the old Irish stuff, some scottish stuff too-Hamish Imlach, Jackson Browne, Fleetwoodmac, James Taylor, Shawn Colvin, Tracy Chapman, Bob Marley, Dolly Parton, America and the Eagles...REM, Nirvana, John Martyn, Christie Moore, The Cowboy Junkies, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Jewel, Sarah Mclachlin,The Be Good Tanyas, Nickel Creek, Bruce Hornsby, Bonnie Raitt...theres more, however in recent years and since leaving home my eyes, ears and mind have been opened to a whole new world of sounds-Portishead, Lou Rhodes, Kate Rusby, Gillian Welch, Alison Krauss...even more recently Carol Laula, Boo hewerdine, Sandy Denny etc etc etc
Twenty Two year old Jake Cogan from Lanarkshire, Scotland has been
performing from a very early age,
her songs and singing are wholeheartedly honest, at times raw and powerful at others witty and humorous-
reflective of her character and West of Scotland upbringing. She is quietly becoming one of Folk Music's most exciting new voices. A servant of the traditions she keeps alive, she
belongs to a rare breed of selfless performer-those who live to let tradition breath through them.
In April 2008 she will release an EP entitled 'Honest Mirror' . The EP was produced by Boo Hewerdine and
Mark Freegard.
Since her first gig with her new band in May 2007, she has travelled all over Scotland
with a growing reputation for being a truly entertaining and engaging live performer.
She rounded up 2007 in roaring success with, staggeringly her sixty fifth gig on
December 22nd to a sell out crowd at St. Brides Hall inher now hometown of Edinburgh...
'My favourite new Singer' Boo Hewerdine, Singer/Songwriter/Producer
'Both her songs and singing are incredible, Jake has something very special-she is able to work with and captivate an audience-go along and see for yourself, I was blown away!'
Carol Laula, Singer/Songwriter/Producer
