This is the sound of a one-man band multiplied. A collection of songs that were written and recorded over sevearal years. A Parallax I is more a mix tape or scrapbook than a typical debut album. It is the sound James layering dozens of instruments and vocal tracks over a core of ‘60s/70's inspired rock with a healthy dose of 90's lo-fi indie rock & pysch/folk/pop scapes that refuse to stick to one genre.
'A Parallax I' is a collaged mix of musical styles & recording methods. Half of it was recorded on various analog tape machines..... a bunch of tracks in a digital format, some on cassette, and in about a half a dozen studios between Athens, Ga. & Stockholm, Sweden—with the final version seamlessly stitched together by Andy LeMaster at CPT in Athens, Ga.
So... i just recently found a ripped edged news paper advertisement for Of Montreal playing at the crystal ballroom with your lovely signature on it! i barely remember, but i met you that night when you were having dinner and you signed it... 5 years ago :D and our bananas. which i sadly don't have anymore...
Hi James, great job on Yo Gabba Gabba yesterday. Did you get to keep that funky Crown from the shoot? See you Saturday night. Let us know if your up for doing something fun after the after party.
Hey we were at the show at the Cannery in Nashville and just wanted to say it was awesome! Loved the juxtaposition between you all and OfMo, it was damn cohesive as a full show. Anyway, thanks for the add, check out our stuff sometime, we just started and are looking for feedback of all sorts! Thanks!
I wanted to log on to say how much I enjoyed hearing your tunes for the two glory nights in athens - Also the same tunes made my rainy drive home much more pleasant!
