Said one fan:
"You sound like a cross between Alanis Morisette and Edie Brickell."

...drum roll please....Last summer, I had the huge honor of getting a shout out from miss
Cyndi Lauper, who, after listening to my whole CD!!???, told a bunch of folks: "you have a very special talent in your own town, Jean Mann!" This, while she was in Seattle on tour with True Colors 2008. I got the call from a
fan who was there, I was on a cloud...unbeknownst to me, she had
been given my cd that day by said 'connected' fan. Even gave out my website so they could find me...Oh Cyndi, I will open for you any day, any where!
Can't possibly come to a show? To purchase this CD in download and hard copy, go here. albums one and two there too...although the first one is sold out so available in digital download only.
bio: Jean has toured extensively since 2002. The innovative, self-taught performer shares her soulful life tales, woven through the voice of an angel. Her vocal prowess and eclectic playing style combine with the homey, intimate feeling of sitting around a kitchen table with close friends, for a wonderful concert experience for all.
She has released three original CD’s on her independent label, blue flower friday records. Jean’s third CD, Daisies and Fire, was co produced by Jean and longtime partner and musical cohort, Bill Corral. The CD boasts such guest players as composer Wayne Horvitz on piano and Hammond B3 organ, and string players from Seattle Symphony and Teatro Zinzani. Her second CD, Seasons, was co-produced by Jean and Brendan Hill (Blues Traveler).
Jean has contributed tracks on compilation CD's for charities, has opened for national songwriter Peter Himmelman, and received kudos from jazz great, Jacqui Naylor, who, upon discovering Jean performing at a San Francisco coffeehouse, bought all her CD’s and said, “I love your voice and music!”
Her music is enhanced by de-tuning her gibsons, tenors etc, resulting in a harmonic blend of lush, swelling vocals. Alterna-jazz-folk, the unabashed truth, sprinkled with a healthy bit of passion. A self-taught player, her vocal stylings have been likened to (among others) Ani Di Franco, Joni Mitchell, Sarah McLachlan, Dar Williams and Norah Jones. Her debut album, "blossom" is sold out, and available in download only. Go hereand click on "add MP3 to cart"
