Tenderly apocalyptic music from a Midwestern transplant to New England. Jeff Mitchell's songs are flashes of memory, emotion, and dry humor. He specializes in fingerstyle guitar and plays kick-drum, Moog bass pedals, and an echo-box with his feet.
Jeff claims influences that range from country-blues greats Elizabeth Cotten and Mississippi John Hurt to experimentalists like Ween and Mr. Bungle. His lyrics offer abstract impressions of small-town life and a bewildered view of humans in general.
Mitchell has played everything from metal in dive bars to jug band music in grade schools. He's shared the stage with folkies, punks, honkey-tonkers, barbershoppers, hip-hoppers, yodeling cowboys, and cardboard robots.
"Sounds like it was not only recorded live, but recorded live down a tin can to a tape recorder at the other end of a phone, and sounding great for it!" - Mark Lamarr, BBC Radio 2
Hey Jeff how you doing? When is the next time you are coming back to WI? And if you have a trip planed are you going to have a show? Long time since I've seen you play. Love your acting skills in the Kickbutt movie. See ya later.
Hey Jeff. It's great to hear from you. Hope life is good. I am shaking the glitches off some recordings to put up on a music Myspace. It will be so nice to join all the friends I have who have music up. Silly me. I'm not sure what I was scared of. Cool to hear of the creepy moment. That's good stuff.

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
