Jeffrey Hewer is a jazz guitarist who performs swinging, straight ahead Jazz. He plays regularly in Toronto at special events, weddings, restaurants and cafes. A versatile musician, Jeffrey performs solo jazz guitar but also plays with duos, trios and quartets and will even sing a song or two.
Born in Guelph, Ontario in 1973, his family moved near Toronto where he began playing guitar and singing at age 16. After cutting his teeth on rock n' roll and blues, Jeffrey attended Carleton University in Ottawa, changed his focus to jazz and received his Bachelor Of Music in 1998. That same year he moved back to Toronto and continued his jazz studies with Lorne Lofsky, Barry Harris, Howard Reese and Al Gorman. For several months in 2001, Jeffrey performed aboard the Norwegian Wind as it sailed from Miami to Alaska, appearing nightly in the Moondance Trio as the featured soloist. While on board, he was also invited to play lead guitar in the show band.
In 2006, inspired by the sounds of Ron Eschete, George Van Eps and Fred Fried, Jeffrey began performing on 7-string guitar, a guitar that allows him to play bass and guitar parts simultaneously. Jeffrey’s solo guitar performances feature 7-string guitar, adding a new level of depth and richness to his playing.≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈

Jeff's performance at our wedding added an air of tranquility for our outdoor wedding ceremony. His professional attitude went above and beyond his performance when he even helped us with something completely unrelated. I will recommend him to anyone seeking a live musician, and his web site is a great starting place to enjoy his music. Thanks Jeff! Ivan & Jenn ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈

Hi Rob, Nice sound on the guitar. I guess if one's race would be determined based on influences in music, approach, and maybe playing style there is a chance we would have same passports.
Could this faceless person really be Jeff Hewer, one of Toronto's premiere jazz guitarist? You need to post pics and definitely tracks so the world can hear your wonderful playing!
