Jeffrey Hewer is a jazz guitarist who performs swinging, straight ahead Jazz. He performs regularly in Toronto at Special Events, weddings, restaurants and cafes. A versatile performer, Jeffrey performs solo, with duos, trios, quartets and maybe even will sing a song or two.
Born in Guelph, Ontario in 1973, his family relocated to the Toronto area where Jeffrey began playing guitar and singing at age 16. After cutting his teeth on rock n' roll and blues music, Jeffrey attended Carleton University in Ottawa where he earned his Bachelor Of Music in 1998. That same year he moved to Toronto where he continued his music studies with Lorne Lofsky, Barry Harris, Howard Reese and Al Gorman. In the summer of 2001, Jeffrey performed as the featured soloist in the Moondance Trio aboard the Norwegian Wind as it sailed from Miami to Alaska. In 2006, inspired by the sounds of Ron Eschete, George Van Eps and Fred Fried, Jeffrey began performing on 7 string guitar, a guitar that allows him to play bass and guitar parts simultaneously. Jeffrey’s solo guitar performances feature the 7 string guitar, which adds a new level of depth and groove to his performances.
Could this faceless person really be Jeff Hewer, one of Toronto's premiere jazz guitarist? You need to post pics and definitely tracks so the world can hear your wonderful playing!
