Founded in 1983 by Billy Rowe and Fernie Rod, Jetboy continues to carry the mantle of the glam-punk genre into the 21st century with the same fury that existed 25 years ago.
Long recognized as one of the perfectors of the glam genre, Jetboy was one of a handful of acts that got the attention of music fans and record executives alike. While Hollywood was loaded with musical talent, San Francisco had but one true leader at the time, and that leader was Jetboy.
Now a cross-generational powerhouse, Jetboy is experiencing a resurgence in popularity that can only be attributed to their musical relevance. Rock and roll fans the world over are beginning to revisit the music that helped to shape a generation, and is now becoming the soundtrack for their offspring. Songs like Feel the Shake, Suicide Shakedown, Stomp it Down to the Bricks, and the newly released Folsom Prison Blues have struck a chord with an increasingly more discerning audience.
Celebrating their 25th anniversary, the founding members of Jetboy (Billy Rowe, Fernie Rod and Mickey Finn) are dedicated to bringing the party atmosphere back to rock and roll. Having just finished a triumphant reunion tour that saw the band playing major stages like Rocklahoma, The South Texas Rock Fest, and Rock the Bayou, Jetboy is preparing to enter the studio, followed by a major tour in Summer 2009.
WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY FROM THEN AND NOW
When It Rocks and It rolls, It rises to a noise so thunderous, It can't be Ignored.
" LA WEEKLY "
A True Rock N' Roll band In every sense of the word. Chuck Berry would be proud.
" ROCK SCENE MAGAZINE "
Led by vocalist Mickey Finn, this San Francisco quintet colors It's heavy metal-pop with shades of Rockabilly rowdiness. Highlights of this excellent airworthy debut include the head-banging title track, the harmonious 'Make Some Noise', 'Fire In My Heart', & 'Hard Climb'.
" BILLBOARD MAGAZINE "
The long-awaited debut by this San Francisco quintet Is one of those rare cases where the wait was actually worth It. With AOR radio ripe for harder rock, JETBOY can't miss. Originally scheduled for release a year ago on Elektra, the Tom Allom-produced 'Feel The Shake' Is unquestionably the hottest debut since G N' R's. With Influences ranging from The Rolling Stones to the New York Dolls to Hanoi Rocks, tracks like 'Hard Climb', 'Bad Disease', 'Hometown Blues' and 'Feel The Shake' are more than just great rockers - They're actually exciting. This LP just might be the most Important release of the season.
" CIRCUS MAGAZINE - PAUL GALLOTTA "
You know what kind of music JetBoy play !?! It's called Rock n Roll ! There was a lot of roots rock in there music. A dash of rockabilly, some blues, and some loud ass guitars ! I recently was lucky enough to have Jetboy play the Cathouse reunion twenty f@kn' years later and you know what ? The band was far from dated ! they still sounded fresh and current. You know why ? BECAUSE JETBOY PLAYS ROCK N' ROLL !
" RIKI RACHTMAN - CATHOUSE/HEADBANGERS BALL "
"When punk rock lost the plot and metal became a parody of itself; JETBOY was there (for those of us lucky enough to find them) to give us rock n roll fanatics something to get excited about. They looked cool, oozed with attitude and most importantly wrote great songs. "Together with their European counterparts, Hanoi Rocks, JETBOY represent one of rock history's biggest missing links. It's good to hear that they are back to finish what they started."
Alright guys!!! I finally got The Glam Years Movie. Pretty Damn Good!!! Lotsa old tunes!!!!! But no Feel The Shake Live? Are you ever going to come to Phoenix. Let's set something up, when you play LA & SD.
Thanks so much for the friendship JETBOY You have a GREAT sound. Hope you like mine too :)
REVIEW: " The other outlier is the multi-talented Gisele Scales from Sydney, Australia. A talented electronic violinist and vocalist, Gisele has been invading dance music circles all over the world. Her recent CD, 2 Think, gives dance music enthusiasts everything they could want: electronica, techno, rock, tango, world music, and breakbeat rhythms overlaid with her seductive pop vocals. But this isn’t just music for your party. Gisele’s “Green” is a statement about global warming and other eco-disasters. Both her “Can U Love 1 Another” with its gypsy violin and her “Armonia,” a world music-rich track, speak to global peace. Gisele Scales is definitely on the rise." - Janie Franz, Skope Magazine
