Josh Harper was convicted of two federal “terrorism” related felonies in the landmark SHAC 7 conspiracy case on March 12,2006. On November 16 he began serving his 3 year long prison sentence (he spent the interim months on house arrest under electronic monitoring).
The only evidence against Mr. Harper were two speeches he made and an e-mail he sent encouraging people to protest companies with financial ties to Huntingdon Life Sciences. No evidence at trial linked him to any illegal action, or showed that his words encouraged others to commit crimes. The case against him and his co-defendants was so outrageous that the National Lawyers Guild has called the conviction, “Unconstitutional.” Indeed, all of Josh’s conduct was first amendment protected free speech.
The appeal of his conviction will begin soon but in the meantime Josh needs to know that this travesty of justice is not going unnoticed. Please take the time to write him!!
