Joe Hall and The Treehouse Band are an up-and-coming act hailing from the NSW Central Coast. Quintessentially Australian, their songs are fun and catchy but down to earth.
They play a mash-up of rock, reggae, country, funk, soul, blues, punk and most things in between. But to keep things simple, they usually refer to their music as all-ages roots-pop.
Don’t imagine Britney Spears here – this is Australian and it’s a lot more honest, like the John Butler Trio, The Waifs, Paul Kelly or any other proud Aussie group.
Joe formed The Treehouse Band in late 2007 with a trio of musicians he’s known since he was a kid. He also happens to be married to the drummer Katherine. Together with their good mates Bill Abel (guitar) and Trev Hancock (bass), they independently recorded their self-titled debut EP in 2008.
Recording this EP was the bands first endeavor, bunkering down under a house in the country to produce and self-record their first five songs. In December 2008, they had a launch party to celebrate. Now in 2009 Joe and the band are keen to get out and gig as often as they can.
They’re continually building their repertoire and are excited about people hearing their new songs too. Joe says “our rehearsal space is not much bigger than your average treehouse, so we're really enjoying rocking out in the open!”
Audiences so far have been quick to relate to their energetic but down-to-earth vibe. Their sound is unique and potential exciting. Stay tuned for their next gig at a festival, fete or flat-bed truck near you.
