Music
It is my one true love, and I will never falter.
Music is brave and noble and utterly beautiful. It transforms everything, and makes the air sweeter and the nights longer.
Fats Waller ("Blue Because of You" and the piano solo on "You're the Picture"), Uncle Dave Macon, Delmore Brothers ("Singing My Troubles Away" and "Broken Hearted Lover"), Wade Mainer, Blind Willie McTell ("Pal of Mine" & "Hide Me In Thy Bosom" are the BEST!), some other blind guys, Elizabeth Cotton, Louvin Brothers, Everly Brothers, Washington Phillips ("Mother's Last Words To Her Son"), Cajun Music (all the greats) and SO many more...
Look, I also like music that is played by people that are alive! Those include The Red Stick Ramblers, Hungry Hungry, Gill Landry, Woody Pines, Eric when he plays that clawhammer banjo and the ukulele lady song, The Strokes, Andy Bodean & The Bottom Boys, The Lost Sheeps, Pine Hill Haints, Fleet Foxes, 16 Horsepower, and that Elliott Smith guy A LOT, even though he's dead...ehhhh, more to come another day...
Movies
i am quite fond indeed of motion pictures; mostly there will be blood, coal miner's daughter, ghostworld, the flower that drank the moon, road to perdition (because it's so danged pretty to look at), the wizard of oz, Darren Aronofsky films (because they make me want to throw up and die, and ultimately, that's pretty cool), time bandits, anything with max fisher, mark twain in claymaytion, anything with edward norton BEFORE 2002, cradle will rock, the man with two brains, anything with dirk calloway, girl interrupted (classic rehab flick), american movie, brazil, the last waltz (because rick danko looks like matt bourgeois and levon helm is the coolest white man alive), lots of other things by scorsese except for those starring leonardo dicaprio because he's stupid (however, i will allow gangs of new york because daniel day lewis is in that and i heart him a lot), the village (because ron howard's daughter is so f-ing beautiful in it), princess bride, that quentin tarentino movie about the stunt driving women that kick kurt russell's ass was the best, raising arizona, shawshank, anything with danny glover in a leather jacket, drowning mona, anything by zack godshall, christian bale as batman movies, legends of the fall (damn it's good), that robin hood cartoon where robin hood is a "fox", anything by errol morris & primer (shane carruth, I will have your genius babies! call me!)
Television
no thanks. don't watch it. don't miss it.
Books
i like these books quite a bit: the bible (well, it's true), a lesson before dying, the good earth, old folk and fairy tales, most anything by chris van allsburg & david mccauley, picture books of caravaggio, norman rockwell, romare bearden, architecture, formal gardens, old posters & advertisements, quilts, photographs of the way things were & davinci's drawings of people and machines..
Heroes
storytellers, huggers, sweethearts, dreamers, gazers, go getters, good mothers, good fathers, good sisters, good brothers, good friends, conan o'brien & redheads the world over
I design web pages, posters, and merchandise for musicians, writers, cultural arts groups, film and art makers, and the like. Basically, I don't work with folks that sell things they don't create themselves.

I'm prolly not as pretty in person, though much taller than you might expect. i'm otherwise a pretty interesting, eccentric person, only masked by a reasonably strong vocabulary and mediocre social skills. right now, i'm into gardening and outside things. i've also been into renting movies from the library and hanging out with my dog vega while i watch them. i like colors and designing things, and sewing, and cooking and lots of other skillful hobbies. also, i don't care for myspace, but i'm kinda stuck on here until i gain the courage to drop out.
Who I'd like to meet: fats waller (please come back from the dead!)
the type of folks that don't stop dreaming when the sun comes up, but still have a mind to pay their bills and keep the yard nice...(do you exist?)
i'm fond of niceness and sweetness and cuteness as well. if you think that i'm nice and sweet and cute, that's even better.
