Jimmy Lloyd is about as unique as an artist can get. Profoundly introspective and contemplative on the one hand and outrageously absurd and irreverent on the other.
Coming across as both familiar and mysterious at the same is no easy task, but, just like a good friend, this is what "Jimmy Lloyd" does. His latest album tips the scales between insane absurdity and hard bitten reality but never loses its style.
Jimmy's songs describe situations and circumstances that almost everyone can relate to but also reflect a romantic and poetic yearning for release from these very same circumstances. Based in NYC, Jimmy evokes geographic and emotional regions near and far. Most of the compositions on his latest release can best be described as "road songs" written while he traveled through life and across Europe and the US between jobs, gigs, and girlfriends.
Jimmy Lloyd's music captures the opulence of classic rock, with a tinge of 90's alt rock, and the classic crooning of a good Johnny Cash ballad. He is a natural story teller and his lyrics flow effortlessly between irony and honesty. First, he will shock you with his hard-edged world view, then he will shock you with sheer poetic beauty.
