At a time when talented acts are rare, American Idol finalist Jared Cotter is bringing credibility back to the craft of singing R&B. While only 25, this smooth vocalist is well beyond his years in his ability to engage his audience. Born and raised in Long Island, Jared grew up in a family where music was a way of life. Jared's great grandfather was the first African American jazz player to perform at Carnegie Hall. His father, in the late 70's, played with Nile Rogers and the late Bernard Edwards of the Big Apple Band, later known as Chic. Early on, Jared was exposed to the importance of good music's appeal to the masses. Jared is influenced by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway, Marvin Gaye and Brian McKnight. Growing up 40 minutes outside of NYC also provided Jared with the opportunity to realize the importance of fusing hip hop with the ever changing mixture of R & B and Pop music. This combination of styles makes Jared's music that much easier for all audiences to appreciate. Jared's recording career began at the young age of 15. By using everyday occurrences and life's many experiences for material, the boy quickly matured into a man whose range of topics varies from love to the ambition for success. Jared's passion and drive make him stand out. The audience can't help but notice this star in the making. After listening to relationship themed songs such as "Make U Cry", "My Girl", "She Likes It" and the Notorious B.I.G inspired "Somebody's Gotta Go", Jared's unique talent as a singer/songwriter is evident. Jared's long hours of studio experience is reflected in his catalogue of songs. He has worked with major talent such as Joshua Thompson, Rob Fusari, and Jeremy Skaller just to name a few. An accomplished writer, Jared also collaborates with other great writers including Andre Deyo, Teron Beal and spends a lot of time with producer and songwriter, Quincy Patrick creating future hit records. Jared has performed on BET's "106 & Park", opened for platinum-selling artist Avant, and can be heard on airwaves of every major radio station in the New York area. In addition to performing for 35 million people a night on the American Idol stage he has also performed at BB King's in Times Square, Village Underground, Soul Café, SOB's and all over NYC's circuit, where real music reigns supreme. In 2005, JL independently released "The Album Before the Album", selling thousands of copies in less than a month. Most recently, JL has written songs for other popular artists such as Carl Thomas, Joe, and UK artist Jay Sean. He has been nominated for Best Male R&B Vocalist at the Underground Hip Hop Music Awards. Currently, Jared can be seen daily co-hosting "The Sauce" on the major television network Fuse. Always humble, this young man is thankful for all the gifts with which he has been graced. He brings his talent to the world through his music. Look out world! Very soon, you too will be thankful for the opportunity to hear and see Jared Cotter. Contact:
