"...now that violinist… for him, the people stayed. With his odd mannerisms
staged to earn smirks and applause from the audience, he managed to play with his bow and odd switchboard as casually as we sipped on lattes and adjusted purse straps. The press of a pedal changed the mood from whimsical to morose, but most songs escalated to a rewarding climax. Not even the slower endings petered out dully, and even the improvisation made sense. "...there are some artists and performers that communicate only using their physical body. And using only their physical body, a few do present their craft with great skill.
Other artists and performers present their craft at a higher level using more to communicate including their subtle and causal bodies. Some performers who perform at these levels do so knowingly while others are unaware of their use of this medium of communication. I believe that Joel is in this later category. He connects with people and yet neither he nor the audience understands why the connection is so strong. "

I took piano lessons and later I took violin lessons as a child. Later I took some music classes in college.
I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to study, to teach, and to perform in a wide range of musical styles.
When an Iranian professor of mine introduced me to the Iranian Sitar and gave me the opportunity to mix sound for a Persian Ney (an amazing flute-like instrument) player I fell in love with many of the Eastern forms of music. When I create music this often has a strong influence in what comes out.
I teach a handful of students on guitar, violin, and piano, record my compositions in my home studio, and play out as a member of several groups.
