When it comes to John Michael Rose, he is not a man of few words.
Whether speaking about him personaly or about his music.
Coming from a small town north of Atlanta, John grew up with music in his ears. From an early age he was influenced by everyone from Cat Stevens and Simon and Garfunkle all the way to Pop Staples, Dire Straits, Chess Records and even Ralph Stanley.
John Started playing guitar at age 10 and progressed quickly until at age 16, he had quit school and started playing in clubs around Atlanta regularly. If he wasn't playing, you could often find him, toes to stage and his nose in some of his hero's guitars, studying every one of their licks. He soon forged a name for himself in and around Atlanta and in the south east playing with some of the best in the business from Warren Haynes and Dereck Trucks to James Cotton, Pinetop Perkins and Devon Allman (Gregg Allman's Son) of Honeytribe, along with many others.
John currently resides in Austin Texas and plays regularly with his band, "The John Michael Rose Band", in and around austin and the south east.
John and the band are currently winding down 2008 and in January they start recording John's follow up album to the criticaly acclaimed debut, "Still On My Mind".
Breaking from the blues mold, which has always been John's goal, this album pulls from some of his deepest influences like Nick Drake, Pink Floyd, Mark Knopfler and Cat Stevens to create a stunning portrait of sound. With a mixture of orchestras, electric guitars, melodic acoustic work, mixed percusion and his noted soulful voice, his second release is something no one should miss!

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
I encourage all to visit the YouTube page to learn more (Show support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly circulate as widely as possible, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4
