Johnny Hatch is a creative musician based in Regina, Saskatchewan and Vancouver, BC, whose songs are fun, melodic, rocking, pop tunes with a folk and New Wave influence. For the past few months, Johnny and the band have been recording their new album entitled ‘Happiness Instead’. Scheduled to be released in August, the new album was produced with the support of the Sask. Music Association. Regional CD release shows are being booked for the fall. Johnny spent August 2009 writing, recording and rehearsing in Los Angeles with Doug ‘Deep (producer, TV show composer for the shows such as Survivor). Tracks from their EP Hot Traxx!!! received radio airplay in Saskatchewan, BC, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. The band has sharpened their live show into an upbeat, entertaining set with theatrical nuances. .
Grant Lawrence of CBC Radio 3 called Johnny Hatch an "infamous Prairie Rocker" and musical peers such as producer Adam H and the legendary THOR have named the Hatchman as one of Western Canada's most inventive songwriters. Hot Traxx!!! was produced by David J. Taylor Regional audiences are enjoying the live show and national touring is in the works.
The current core version of Johnny Hatch & The Lost Disciples formed 4 years ago bringing together skilled, imaginative players: J.H. on guitar and vocals, studio wiz Dave Fries guitar, vocals drummer Pat Kelly. Bass is currently thumped by either Depen Pandya. The group has performed at such prestigious events as the Cathedral Arts Festival, Gravelbourg Summer Solstice and Flatland Music Festival.
Highlights of Johnny Hatch’s career during his years based in Vancouver and Regina include having songs in include having several songs in movies and TV shows, notably a track in the hit film 'Fubar' (alongside bands like Sum 41 and Sloan) and shooting a video for the song with Fubars Terry & Dean thats on the DVD. This adventure took place in the company of Canadian worldwide cult legend Jon THOR, with whom Hatch co-wrote and recorded 11 songs and rocked for 3 tours, including a tour with the Grammy winning Nashville Pussy. Hatch had his song ‘Let’s Go, Don’t Crash’ used in the Renegade Press TV show and CD.
